Guest guest
My younger sister has been diagnosed with CMT, although both my mother and I suspected she had a mild case during her teens. She is now in her late 60s, has begun to wear leg braces, and has noticed a growing deficiency in the muscles of her hands. She continues to work as a customer service representative with one of the largest home security businesses where she wins awards after awards for her work, her dedication, and her willingness to help everyone. She has to drive, use her computer for 8 hours a day at work, prepare meals, and clean house daily. She is an inspiration to me and my other sister. Her attitude is outstanding. Each morning she rises an hour early and, without her leg braces, takes an hour's walk/run to keep her muscles working. Occasionally, she falls, but she gets up again and continues. My dear cousin is a member of this group, and he is another person who continues to give me inspiration and joy. Although he must have had many difficulties in his life, he is highly educated in the sciences, taught for years, was a prinicpal, and even taught in prisons to inmates. Perhaps the greatest teaching he gave to his students was the gift of his own great heart and soul. I am so fortunate to have these great family members. Although so many of my family, both near and far, have CMT, they continue to inspire, to teach, and to show all of us how to live our lives to the fullest. I am, indeed, blessed.
