Dear Jacqui,

Thanks for the good wishes.

Yes, we had at home, just as we had Hannah at home

four years ago.

Three hours of labor, a bit faster than Sherri-Lee would have liked,

but the little guy was in a hurry to see his big sister!

A perfect pregnancy, and a perfect delivery.

Just having a little trouble getting him to open his mouth wide when he

latches,

so that he doesn't just suck on the nipple. He is a little Hoover!

Best of health!

Dr. Saul

I am interested in hearing others's stories. I have Conn's Syndrome with a 4 cm tumor on L adrenal. I am taking 70 mg Spiro til I can see endo, but I feel awful all the time, very tired and sluggish. Am looking for other's experiences. Thanks for your time, Lori

Bob thanks for your story. Go to our files and download my article on the evolution of PA and I think it will explain most of your history. Indeed we would like to have you give us your complete Hx after you have read the article. It will explain why the meds being used till eplerenone did not work. Can you track you evolution over time and include as much as you can. If you look at our files on Conn's stories you will see many others. Yours will be the first "Bob's Story". Particularly when did BP first go up, when did K first go down. When did getting up at night to pee begin. Details on Family Hx of HTN and low K. The doubling of turmor size is very unusual in a short time. Did it really double or were the imaging methods better? Be certain you get a copy of the path report for your files.

I guess your surgery was the band aide type?

If you have met others with this problem ask them to share here and help us help pts avoid the long struggle you had.

Hi Lori,

I am a relatively fit 65 year old, very active, slightly overweight, non smoking, retired computer tech. Roughly 13 years ago, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and given a low dose of Lisinapril, 5 years ago, after complaining of continuous headaches was treated with a daily dose of 100mg Atenelol, 20mg Lisinopril and 75mg Dispersible asprin.

When the headaches began again some three years ago my BP was found to be 220/130, and my GP sent me to Brighton hypertension clinic, under a great doctor Kingswood, after a bewildering array of tests and trying half the medicines know to modern science, he managed to get control of my BP although rather erratically at a lower figure, in addtion to the other drugs he added a daily dose of Eplerenone25mg Amlodipine 5mg (nasty side effects), and confirmed that I had Conn?s syndrome, caused by a single tumour 10mm (3/8") in diameter on my left adrenal, his advise was, to have it removed.

As I had never been in hospital before as a patient let alone had an operation, I was very reluctant to take his advise, and carried on with the medicine, hoping that it would go away. Just before Christmas I had a minor stroke (TIA), which scared the living daylights out of me, and prompted me to accept that surgery was the best option. A further CAT scan was done and confirmed that in a year the tumor had doubled in size.

Seven weeks ago I had the whole adrenal gland removed by laposcopic surgery, three hours after emerging from my slumbers, I no longer needed the morphine drip, and after a single dose of paracetamol had no further need of pain killers of any kind. The next morning I had a shower and that evening went for a walk outside the hospital grounds, past the pub, if I had had some cash with me and not been in pajamas I may well have stopped for a pint. I was not very popular when the staff nurse found out from the security gaurd that I had walked for about a mile. Next day I was home.

Since the procedure I have had only mild discomfort, and apart from collecting a stomach bug from Eastbourne hospital I feel great.

My BP is consistently in the order of 110/65 with a pulse 60 and my GP has dropped the dosage of the Attenol twice, my amlodipine completley and all indications are that my BP will continue downwards, allowing me to reduce and eventually stop all meds.(Oh happy days)

I hope that my story will give confidence to anyone in a similar situation as myself, obviously everyone is different, but it worked for me and I am so glad that I had the op, although I must admit being more than a little apprehensive.

Good health to you all.

Bob

Thank you so much for your reply. I am 33 yrs old and am a nurse. I have had

symptoms for yrs. I am relieved to have a diagnosis finally. I hope to have my

tumor removed when I am on vacation. How long was your recovery time ? Thank you

so much for telling me your story, by the way. I really appreciate hearing some

hopeful news. Lori
