Back from Erie

Well, we're somewhat disappointed. It looks as though this will not be Ian's

last cast as we had thought it might be. While he didn't get worse, he also

didn't get any improvement this time. He's still at 11 degrees and there is

still definitely rotation. I had thought last time there was no rotation out of

cast, but I may be wrong about that. I need to go back and look at his x-rays

from our last trip. I know he's older now and that is why the correction is

slowing down, but I was so looking forward to moving on to the next step. Oh,

well. I am just thankful that we are getting such fantastic results and that he

looks so straight!!

So, anyway, he's 5 degrees in his cast with no rotation at all! That is good of

course . Dr. K said that they want to go longer between castings now (after

talking with Mehta) and so now we're going 12 weeks vs. 8 weeks. Our next trip

is scheduled for March 8th.

Oh, and we had a trip from you-know-what on the way home. It took us 11 hours

to get home when it normally takes 8. We hit all kinds of snow squalls, white

outs, black ice and some serious car accidents...we even had a car heading

towards us head on going the wrong way on the highway...saw people getting CPR

done on them, etc. Guess now we can say we've experienced Lake Effect snow for

the first time. If we'd had known it was going to be that bad, we would have

rescheduled the trip.

I plan to post some pictures later today...I will post again when I get them

uploaded to the computer.

Happy to hear you guys made it home safely through such a trecherous trip. I

know it can be discouraging when the numbers don't change, but he's not getting

worse. Sounds like he got great correction ths time and that Dr. K sounds

confident that treatmetn is still on track. Hope you all have a happy and safe

holiday.
