Guest guest
Even though the fundamental objective of this list is to address topics related to the broad field of sports science, fitness and health, the all-pervading effects of the current world crisis cannot be totally excluded from all aspects of our lives, so I will be allowing a special " Off Topic " section to appear periodically to address in an informative, rational manner some of the pressing issues that may affect all of us. This does not mean that members will be granted free rein to indulge in highly emotive discussion on war-like topics. On the contrary, I will only be accepting posts that suggest relevant websites and news articles from as many sources as possible, so that our members can obtain a more balanced view of the whole situation. If anyone does not wish to read this information, please do not open any further letters which bear the above subject heading - the choice to read or not is yours. If anyone wishes to recommend any other informative websites or post copies of news items, you are most welcome to do so. We have already read Western and Russian material on the current crisis, so, for those who might be interested in yet another view of the current international terrorist crisis, visit this Intelligence website from Intelligence experts in the Middle East: http://www.debka.com/ This website discusses topics such as the following: One of the less reported issues in the popular media is the fact that the Chinese have also begun to involve themselves in this conflict, as the following excerpt reveals: <China Moves Forces into Afghanistan 6 October: Before even the launching of the major US military offensive in Afghanistan, long Chinese convoys were carrying armed Chinese Muslim servicemen through northwest China into Afghanistan, according to DEBKA intelligence experts. They were sent in to fight alongside the ruling Taliban and Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda. Their number is estimated to be roughly between 5000 and 15,000. Our sources report another three convoys are behind the first 3000, who crossed the frontier Friday, October 5. They are entering Afghanistan along the ancient Krakoram Road to the Afghan-Pakistani border, through the Kulik Pass of Little Pamir, which is situated in one of the highest and most remote regions of the world....... > In addition, the Taliban have also started interfering further with the Russians, because Taliban Units have been observed crossing into Tadjikistan and engaging Tadjik and Russian Troops in combat. In response, three Russian armoured Brigades have now reached Kabul Outskirts with Anti-Taliba Northern Alliance, ahead of any US Troops.
