Guest guest
I am looking for info on the safety of Ravensara, so far I have found: CORRECTING THE GROSS ERRORS IN AROMATHERAPY TEACHING By Watt Published on the IDMA aromatherapy Internet newsgroup Eucalyptus radiata and Ravensara: " Good for HIV and AIDS " . There is no sound evidence that these oils more than any others are good for these conditions. Both oils have not undergone any Internationally acceptable testing for potential adverse effects. It is therefore unwise to use such substances on human skin and extremely unethical to use them internally. This is from an article writtten by Watts: Essential oil safety - The known and the unknown. http://www.aromamedical.demon.co.uk/articles/eosafety.html a.. Ravensara aromatica and other ravensara oils. None of these oils have undergone any formal safety trials. There also seems to be a lot of manufactured oil on the market which makes their safety suspect. The oil Ravensara anisata is derived from the bark and has substantial estragole and trans-anethole. Tisserand and Tony Balacs in their " Essential Oil Safety " recommend that this oil not be used internally or externally in aromatherapy due to the risks of DNA abnormalities and its possible carcinogenic properties. However Ravensara aromatica is noted as unlikely to present any hazard in aromatherapy. Dottie
