Guest guest
Dear all ers, I want to share some really good news. A new door has been flung wide open in my life. An attorney friend who specializes in SSDI and SSI cases told me about a special training program in which non-attorneys may become qualified to help people get their SSDI/SSI benefits. So, along with everything else in my life, I am going ahead with this. I have several " hoops " to jump through, some continuing education courses to take, plus take a test to qualify. In addition I must work 5 cases free. I have just completed my first case this past month, with successful results. 1 down, 4 to go. The attorney who is sponsoring me will provide my other cases in preparation for my training and also oversee my coursework, etc. I took the " practice test " over the weekend - I scored 80% out of 100, and that's without any study or preparation. I have to have the cases completed before I apply to take the test - which is March 2006. In February 2006, I can begin to take the courses, and this can be over a period of time. In March 2006, I will apply to take the June qualifying test (sort of like the bar exam), in July, I will receive notice if I pass. (Meanwhile, I am trying to read a little each day and learn one new term. Plus working the free cases will teach me a great deal, I'm sure. Nothing like learning by doing)! Then, after that, I will be a non-attorney certified to help disabled people receive their SSDI/SSI benefits. Please understand I am not soliciting clients, I am just merely sharing something new going on in my life that literally just dropped in my lap. When things " happen " like this, I know to proceed. The door has opened wide and I'm walking through. There is lots to learn, lots to know in all of this. Wish me luck, I'll keep you all informed on my progress, and perhaps one year from now I will be able to help people receive their benefits, like so many attorneys are doing now. Do not worry about , I will still be here and nothing in that regard will change - OK, well, will just get BETTER! ~ Gretchen
