Guest guest
Hello Everyone: I was just recently told about the following website and after taking a look at it, I thought I would share it with all of you. The site is designed to help children understand and deal with having a disability, but it has lots of information for adults too. The site address is http://www.disabilityisnatural.com. I was especially thinking of Mike and his wife and little Carley, but I know there are others of us who have children of all ages and ourselves who could use a little positive reinforcement. I work for the Arkansas Independent Living Council and interact with people everyday that have very significant disabilities. I am repeatedly amazed at the tenacity and positive attitude of these people and their family members. Working here has really made me realize that we are all just people with many different aspects to our lives - all trying to live our lives the best way possible. Learning to advocate for ourselves and each other only reinforces a positive attitude toward the disability community. Inclusion into a mainstream society is the goal and education is the means to reach that goal. So, take a look at the site and hopefully you will find something there that strikes a chord in you. Warmest regards,
