Guest guest
Hello , You have come to the right spot! lol I can give you some first hand experience with Ativan/Lorazepam. I have taken it. It is especially helpful when I get tremor surges. I don't take it everyday, just when my tremors go wild. I only take 1 mg and that works wonders. On occassion in a particularly stressful situation, I have taken 2 mg during a 24 hour period. This is all as prescribed by my Internist. Remember too that I am a lightweight when it comes to medication. It doesn't take much to give me the desired effect. I am not depressed, nor has it made me depressed. Believe me, I know what it's like to be depressed and addicted (remember my liquor and valium history) and no way am I addicted to Lorazepam at this stage. Of course I am very aware of this potential, due to my history and stay honest with my 12 step friends. I also check in with my Internist 2X a year for a medication review, and he knows my history and me well. I also know now that the minute I start " needing " to take the Ativan more than as prescribed, that is the time to call my doctor and my 12 step pals. Ativan also can take away some of the anxiety due to bad pain, such as that I had before back surgery and it helped me there. Do not drive if you have taken it. I don't care how little or how much. Just don't drive after you take it. So there you go, some personal experience. Internet sites are useful for information, but as you know, there is alot of junk out there. I suggest you talk over your feelings with your doctor too. You know I take Elavil/Amitriptyline nightly for nerve pain (feet) and also tremor control. I take 50 mg of that and have for about 15 years, except for a year hiatus when I tried to Neurontin. The Elavil/Amitriptyline is an older tricyclic anti-depressant known to help nerve pain. It can make me sleepy, which is why I take it at night. If you can't sleep because of the nerve pain, ask your doctor about it too. I hope this helps. ~ Gretchen
