Guest guest
I just finished competing in the IPF World Masters PL competition. Lots of fun - for those interested in a report I posted one on MFW. This forum is more on training, so I don't want to waste your time with a social type of post on what happened. However, when I go to a seminar I always try to bring back two things I can implement to improve whatever I'm going to the seminar for. This was like a seminar for me, so here they are. 1. I need to establish more emotional control. I didn't sleep a wink - not even 15 minutes - the night before and it adversely effected my performance. I had a near optimum level of arousal at the meet itself, but not the night before. Even with drinking and eating some carbs I dropped 7 lbs overnight. 2. I need to optimize leverage and technique. Watching all the great lifters made me acutely aware of how they had all managed to discover an optimal technique for their bodies which maximized how they were able to exhibit strength through the PL's. My best lift was the one i had spent the most time on finding a technique for my body - the squat. In three years it has gone from my worst lift to my best. I need to spend the same type of analysis and be willing to take a step back in the bench and deadlift to get the same level of performance from them. Very interesting meet!
