Tai-Chi and Hydrolonic Acid

A friend of mine who does Tai-ëhi was explaining, or trying to explain what was

actually happening in the body from the movements hewas doing. He said that

most people think that chi was some mysterious supernatural force and that was

why many people discredit the practice of tai-chi as legitemate (his words not

mine).

This is what he told me:

The flow of blood in the body is caused by an electromagnetic force. Any

chi-cultivating exercise increases this force, hence increasing blood flow. When

performing some of the movements in tai-chi, the Valsalva effect is set off

which sets in motion the release of a whole host of hormones secreted by the

body to rebuild and regenerate itself. One of these substances is called

hydrolonic acid and is released from the brain. He told me that this substance

is the basis for the body healing itself. Does anyone have any familiarity on

this topic? Is what he says true or have some validity?

[so we now know that blood flow has nothing to do with a biological pump called

the heart! All of the physiologists and doctors who have done cardiac surgery

should rather have forgotten about blocked coronary arteries, cardiac arrhythmia

and other heart problems and looked for some sort of electromagnetic driver

elsewhere in the body! What your friend has said is just as discrediting

towards Tai-Chi as by all those mystics whom he has seen fit to decry. Body

healing is far more complex that what he believes and there are many other

biochemicals involved in the process than this apparent sole hero called

hydrolonic acid. Just ask him to quote the scientific references that support

his views or advise him very seriously not to criticise the other poor misguided

mystics. What he has said also warrants archiving in a Book of Pseudoscience.

Like the periodisation fractalists, he has uttered a lot of nonsense. Mel Siff]
