Guest guest
Hi , I was 10 years old when I was officially diagnosed with CMT. Started showing symptoms about age 7. (scout hikes too long (3 miles), and crossing those streams on stones - well, so much for balance!) Walking home from 2nd grade really fatigued me too (about 1.5 miles) and then since I was a top " dodgeball " player, I had my share of falls and scraped knees on the playground. At that time I also started wearing orthopedic saddle shoes for school and had started seeing an orthopedist on a regular basis. Had to wear " Toe Braces " at night - supposedly to stretch my toes and align them in place...once Mom and Dad put me to bed, turned off the light, shut the door, first thing I did was get those Toe Braces off!!! Long answer to your short question! ~ Gretchen
