Guest guest
: No, I don't have any mobility in the fused ankle. Which would seem like a bad thing, but actually there was a little silver lining there that neither I nor my dr expected...I have a built in AFO!! This foot actually lifts now just as though I had on an AFO. I do wear an AFO on the other leg and they lift at almost the exact same height. So I don't notice any pain in my lower back or hips that would be associated with imbalance. The leg with the fused ankle is about 1/4 inch shorter now so I wear a little lift in my shoe along with an insole. But that too is ok because it helps to cushion the spot where I can otherwise feel the rod that they put up thru the bottom of my heel to help support the ankle and foot to the leg. This sounds all kinda bad, but compared to what was before - all is good! PS - the only reason the leg is so much shorter is because after the first fusion that failed my dr had to clean up all the mess and we lost a little bone in the process.
