We have been told that Will will have TMJ problems if we don't resolve the

problems underlying the facial assymetry. In fact, we will have to have

surgery on his jaw because of the ssymetry resulting from torticollis. I

would not listen to your pediatrician unless he is experienced in

cranio-facial problems. Dana

Hi -

I've been told by Grace's cranio doc. that she could run into TMJ and eyesight problems if her plagio isn't treated. On the other hand, her pediatrician said she would suffer no ill effects if it's left untreated. I would rather be safe than sorry.

I've never heard anyone mention learning problems. Or read of them, for that matter.

I'm curious what other parents have heard from doctors about potential developmental risks (speech or vision problems, learning difficulties, etc.) associated with plagiocephaly. I've heard conflicting opinion.

thanks,

Torticollis is a contraction or spasm of the neck muscles, which draws

the head to one side. Some babies have this worse than others.

My daughter, Hanna only has a mild case. We went to physio for 1

month and continue to do home exercises just to make sure that 'ol muscle

stays stretched out!
