If I'm trying to concentrate, ANY sound totally distracts me. What a curse!! How I wish I could feel normal. No one understands, and I feel so bad about it. Well, I'm in NJ too, so care to meet? I hear the ....... but where the heck is it.. I'm sure it would mak a great difference. Guest guest
I don't feel I am overly sensitive to noise (unless it's rap music!) but I have noticed that I seem to have a constant buzz-like sound I hear. It reminds me of crickets on a hot summer night. Sometimes it is more obvious than others. I have just written it off to the amount of electronics in our environment. But since it is difficult to describe, I've never asked anyone else if they experience the same thing. If I plug my ears I still hear it, like it is in my head. Maybe it is all in my head, huh?! Guest guest
No, even tho it is literally in your head, I have it in my head also. You are right about the type of sound...it does sound like crickets.
Guest guest
I have had the cricket sounds in my ears for several years and in the last two years they are a contant noise. I even figured out they hum in a F chord...being music minded I figured this out. I just laugh and tell my family I am never alone as long as they are there singing!! Guest guest
Yes we use vacuums but can't be used before 8:00 a.m. just like the washing machine and I believe the decibel of the Vitimix is louder than my vacuum. If I have the soundproof cover it will be no louder than the garbage disposal which can be used before the 8:00 a.m. (go figure) - also I plan to travel with mine to my parents and grandparents and it would be easier on their ears to bring a cover instead of asking them to wear ear plugs...the original question indicated a whole family found the noise piercing and loud not one individual so I think a soundproofing solution would be easier than asking everyone to wear ear plugs...just my opinion...plus I figure I am going to have my vitamix for years and years and have read where people have had for 25 years so figure the cost divided by 25 years is worth the investment to protect mine and anyone else's ears...just my opinion. DD > > I don't remember if this is the right group. someone asked about a cover to cut the noise of the Vitamix. You know how it is when you lay down to sleep or a nap, all kinds of things go thru your mind. I was thinking about that problem and thought if you sit the Vitamix on a mouse pad or a kneeling pad, then put a waste basket upside down over the Vitamix and sit a paper covered book on top of that to soak up the noise. I think a wooden basket might work better. That might work and is cheaper then paying $200.00. > > Then I wondered doesn't anyone in that condo use a vaccum cleaner, or a food processor or any of those noisy kitchen tools? > OK.... back to my nap. > > Lucille >
