OMG! I am soooo happy for your little guy. I am sure you are happy to be on to

the next phase of treatment. Wow. Fantastic news. So, how's he adjusting to

the brace? What do you think of it? I do hope we have a similar experience when

we make our next trip in March.

Yay for Cole!!!

Cole Update!!!!!

Hello Everyone. I hope you all had a very happy holiday, and that

those of you who traveled, traveled safe.

We just got back from Erie, and were pleasantly surprised with the

news they gave us. We had anticipated one more cast before going into

a brace, but Cole's back did so well in this last cast, that he is

officially graduated to the bracing phase. He was 5 degrees out of

cast with no rotation, and zero degrees in the brace. The xrays are

beautiful.

So Dr. K said that Cole will stay in this brace until he out grows it

or for a year what ever comes first. I guess he won't need another

brace after this one. Does that sound right? He said at his last

meeting with Dr. Mehta, she said that was the correct way of doing it.

Cole is only 22 months old, so still a few months of fast growth. I

will expect him to outgrow this brace in around 6 months.

V., is Jake still wearing his brace? Has he ever been fitted

for a second one?

C., I'll be surprised if Ian has another cast after his one.

Cole's numbers were very similar to Ian's prior to his last cast. He

was in this cast for three months, and he got awesome results. Dr. K

gave him anesthesia, planning to put on a cast, but after reading the

out of cast xray, he changed his mind and molded him right there on

the table. It was a long day with the brace guy, but worth it.

Take care.

/Cole

That's great news. A wonderful holiday gift. Our family is very happy for both

of you. Our prayers are with all of our friends on this board so that they may

some day receive similar news. Here's to a new year with many of the little

ones taking the next step.

Congratulations on the great news! It's a joyous and scary time,

isn't it?!? Joyous because you've made it this far with such great

results and scary at the same time because we grow so accustomed to

the cast. That's how we felt anyway. As for Jake and his brace, he

wore his for 3 months and had outgrown it in that time. I felt he

would need a new brace molded at the 3 month appt, but Khoury argued

against one because Jake's x-ray was so beautiful. Next week we go

for our 4 month x-ray to see how his spine has responded to this time

without any support.

Once again, congrats on this milestone!

That is awesome news. I am so glad. I can picture the xray in my mind. I

felt the same way seeing 's back on xray perfectly straight. I was so

used to seeing Moriah's. It was a relief to know he does not have what she

does. Congratulations to your family. Your hard work and perseverance has paid

off.
