Guest guest
Hi Joana, The pool I do aquatics in is 92F or 33.3C The pool that the swimmers use here for laps is 85F or 29.4 So it seems that both of the pools I use are warmer than the one you are using. The aquatics pool here is set at 92F or 33.3C because this meets USA Physical Therapy requirements, and the pool is used by patients in aquatic rehabilitation primarily. The lap pool we have, at 85F or 29.4 is significantly lower, and feels much colder to me - but for swimming laps is an ideal temperature. Your pool there at 28C is equal only to 82.4F here. Not real warm for something like aquatic therapy or rehab. Even at 30C, your pool is equal to 86F, just one degree higher than our swimmer's lap pool. At 31C, your pool would be equal to 87.8F - still not as warm as the pool I use. You might inquire with your club's management and ask why the temperature is kept at 28C. It may have something to do with other people/swimmers using the pool, in other words, it is lower in general. If someone tried lap swimming for any length of time in a pool heated at 92F or 33.3, one would most likely have a heart attack, although, once in awhile, I break out and swim some laps anyway, lol, but like I said that pool is heated hotter because it is a therapy pool. (What a cardio workout on the lap swimming I get!) As for getting cold - sometimes after I have spent an hour in 92F degree water, the short walk in an air conditioned aquatic center into the women's showers is mighty chilly! By the time I get the shower on, I'm ready for hot water again. So, perhaps you simply got a chill from the air conditioning. I always take 4 towels with me - lol, ok one is for my hair, but even still, just in case of feeling cold, I've got an extra. In the colder months I also wear heavier sweats and a polar fleece top to put on after my shower, so I can maintain a good body temp without getting cold. Right now, since it is 99-100F (37.2 - 37.7 these days, shorts and a T shirt are all I need. Hope this helps some. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Thanks Gretchen... Yes, as you can see...it is colder for me...and people here find it ok. I can not go to another place...does not exist here! I remember when I used to go to the hospital doing Hydrotherapy ...yes, there was a very warm water..and it was not a pool but a tank...awfull feeling to go there. Now, I got this health club and I feel fine over there...but the pool is always cold like that. I think I will complain again. I did so many times before, they do not take any notice of it! Take Care and Thanks again.. Joana
