Guest guest
Missy, I hear you. I took Neurontin for about a year. It worked well almost immediately. The dry mouth I experienced was maybe for 1 week. I drank more water, also chewed sugarless gum, etc. I started on 300 mg a day, and increased to another 300 for 3 days, so I took 900 a day. I had some mild dizziness for those initial 3 days. I am not so petite as you; I am impressed your doctor took this into consideration when prescribing for you. I had no other effects. Neurontin took away the electric type pain " sizzles " I was having intermittently. I took N for a year - which I agreed to with my doc. At the end of that year, I gradually decreased the dose 300 mg a day because I was getting tremor surges from it. Over the course of a weekend, I went off N. The N may also help your depression too. I did alot of research on it and this was way before it was approved for neuropathic pain. Give the medication some time. It is working on a chemical substance called GABA in your brain, and like I have said before, your brain chemistry is just being rearranged/adjusted. 1/3 of the people who first tried N were instant responders. Another 1/3 took a few months to really know the good effects, and the last 1/3 did not respond at all. Like I said, give N some time and see how you do on it. Being 29 with CMT is hard, I know; Hang in there. I hope the N helps your pain. Hope this helps. ~ Gretchen
