xrays for infants

Hi to all,

My granddaughter, Hayden, had an xray at 7 weeks old in Sept. and was

diagnosed with a 21.5 degree curve on the xray report. We have yet to

see the specialist here in Sacramento at Shriners, Dr. Gupta, as he

failed to show up Nov. 16 due to an emergency. Next appointment with

him will be Dec. 21st. My daughter's family has to drive here from

Reno for the appointments.

My question is for any of you parents who have had infants xrayed

before they were able to sit or stand. Hayden's initial xray was taken

in semi traction with both arms and legs being pulled in opposite

directions while laying supine (on her back, face up). One doctor in

Reno said that was the wrong way to xray......that the xray should be

taken with someone holding her up under her arms and letting her hang

straight down. How have your infants been xrayed and in what position

were they in when xrayed?

Hayden did see a resident at Shriners who took over all the appts. when

Dr. Gupta didn't show up. He had the initial xray from September and

he did measurements of Cobb, 24, and RVAD at 17. He wasn't quite sure

how to figure the RVAD so left the room and came back after he double

checked how to measure that.

I am not even sure how accurate that COBB and RVAD measurement is since

Hayden was in traction.....vs what her natural curve actually is.

Anyone know the basics of that??

Thanks for any replies,

Marsha
