Christmas shopping and good shoes

Gretchen you are incredible!

I hope you get a great head start on the Christmas shopping! As usual, ours

will be over the course of the next months, when inspiration strikes, and a

combination of shops, as well as the internet.

For me I am still in my Asics running shoes, which have heel stabilisers in them

too, preventing my foot from rolling. These are a new pair for me (relatively

new) that I need to break in still - the problem with running shoes and me is

that I walk a long distance in them, so need to break them in. I get pressure

calluses on my right foot, but once broken in this does not happen. I also find

that pedicures are a real treat for getting rid of the hard skin on my feet.

Wish me luck everyone - this is my last year of doing a major walking

challenge. This year I am finding it much harder than usual to find the time,

and to feel energised, when doing my distance walking. I have signed up for the

Weekend Breast Cancer walk in London (60 kilometres, or 40 miles, over two days)

and it is tough. My muscles are already twitching from the fatigue - and the

real training has not started yet! Tomorrow I am out in the morning for about

10 miles, then will be doing many miles over the next weeks to get my feet in

shape. I pick up new orthotics, as the yoga that I do has actually straightened

my arches a bit - so I hope to be in great

shape by the 23 to 25 of September. This is a huge challenge for me, but one

that I hope to succeed in, for my last big fundraising year for Breast Cancer.

From here on out, after the end of September, it will be pretty much only the

motivational side of volunteering at the events for me - the walking is just

getting hard. I am updating my websites tomorrow with details of the training

that I have done, so feel free to read about it -

http://home.earthlink.net/~sponsordonna -and any emails of motivation would be

appreciated, especially in late September.

Big hellos from London,

Donna
