Guest guest
Dear ers, This morning Dr. Sahenk was kind enough to send me a copy of her final report on the first human trials of NT-3 nerve regrowth factor for CMT 1A. I will get it uploaded as soon as I can. We have followed the NT-3 trials for so long, and finally now we will have the entire report, which includes her pre-human trials work with mice and NT-3. It is very interesting and also very historical in terms of treatment trials for CMT, since so far, it is the only treatment research completed on persons with CMT 1A. And, Dr. Sahenk, being the first female CMT researcher to find this treatment is significant too Things may be slow, but I am encouraged they are moving - even after it's been over 100 years since Charcot, Marie and H. Tooth gave our syndrome a name " CMT " . This is exciting for me personally, since, as you all know, when I was diagnosed with CMT I was told I was one of 10 in the world with it, and I have lived my whole life waiting for this kind of research to evolve. Even though I do not have Type 1A, this is still exciting! And hopeful! ~ Gretchen
