Guest guest
- Never be embarrassed or ashamed of your CMT. If you need to apply for benefits; by all means do so. When I went out on SSDI back in 1983 I wasn't even wearing leg braces yet. To look at me at the time no one would have ever guessed I had a problem. You DO what is best for you. Good luck. Guest guest
, The last thing you should ever be concerned about is other people's reaction to you disability. If some one wants (or thinks they need to know) what CMT is, take the opportunity to educate them and bring awareness to the illness! You're certainly not the only one with CMT, and its nothing to be ashamed of. You also shouldn't necessarily assume that there will be a battle involved in getting your disability. Mine was approved within a couple of weeks the first and only time I applied. Do what's best for you!
Guest guest
Thanks Gretchen. I will probably have plenty questions later on. I have an appointment this Friday with my surgeon. I may have to go temporarily on disability.
