Never be embarrassed or ashamed of your CMT. If you need to apply

for benefits; by all means do so. When I went out on SSDI back in 1983 I wasn't

even wearing leg braces yet. To look at me at the time no one would have ever

guessed I had a problem. You DO what is best for you.

, The last thing you should ever be concerned about is other

people's reaction to you disability. If some one wants (or thinks they need

to know) what CMT is, take the opportunity to educate them and bring

awareness to the illness! You're certainly not the only one with CMT, and

its nothing to be ashamed of. You also shouldn't necessarily assume that

there will be a battle involved in getting your disability. Mine was

approved within a couple of weeks the first and only time I applied. Do

what's best for you!
