Guest guest
Hi everyone, As you all probably know by now, I love challenges and do big long walks for charity. It was a few years ago, after a half marathon, that I noticed how sore my feet were and decided to sort them out - and in the process got my CMT diagnosis (as well as some great experiences with doctors, physiotherapists, nutritionists - and a shoe store). I use ASICS running shoes, model 1080, as they have great heel support and they have enough room in them for my orthotics. They are really lightweight, and have good venting (although in winter my feet can get chilly!). I also have Lowa hiking boots - again, super light weight and EXTREMELY comfortable, and my orthotics fit inside without an issue (a huge change from my old hikers that lasted about 8 years, which I just updated into the Lowa this winter). I agree with Gretchen - replace your shoes according to how much you walk. The rule of thumb seems to be every 500 miles, which for me is about every 6 to 8 months. For my hiking boots though, this should be in general every 3 or 4 years, and is dependent on the wear to the Gore-Tex. All the best from a sunny England, Donna from London
