Yoga Complete for Everybody / Yoga Complete for Weight Loss

Donna, I can see why you like these dvd's so much! I was never able to get them on Deep Discount DVD or Overstock.com, so I wound up buying the three pack (the third is Yoga Complete for Inflexible People) on Ebay for around $25. As Donna has mentioned, as with all Body Wisdom dvd you you get many, many workouts on each dvd, comprised of various segments. Some of the segments you might see again in another routine, but still.. the variety is outstanding! I haven't done yoga in awhile, so this morning I chose 2 workouts from the Beginner section 30 minutes + sections. On Yoga Complete for Everybody I did the routine entitled "Oh, My Aching Neck!" since I hold much of my tension in that area, and from Yoga Comple for Weight Loss I chose "Peaceful Day". "Oh My Aching Neck" started with a segement called Seven Easy Pieces. These

were extremely basic and easy to help loosen up the body. I liked the one that had eyeball exercises and thought that was a different and unique way to loosen up! Next was a seated series of spinal twists, then a very basic one round of surya namaskar sun salutation. Next was a sustained bridge pose (setu bandha sarvangasana). Next was viparita karani, which is laying with your behind against a wall with your legs straight up. The instructor, who had a soothing voice and lovely cues showed modifications. Lastly, before savasana were several slow supine neck rolls. The savasana was a guided meditation with a magic band around the forehead that would extract tension, and it moved its way down. The second workout I did, "Peaceful Day" again started with some seated cross legged spinal twists, then a stretch I just love, supta padangustansana, the

one where you extend your leg to the ceiling, wrap a tie around your foot, then bring the foot toward your head for a great leg stretch. Part two of this is taking that same leg out to the side. I am tight in this area and it felt really good! Next was staff pose, spinal twists again but in a chair, then supported corpse pose. I remember doing this kind of savasana at the yoga retreat I went on in Santa Barbarbara at the white lotus, and was happy to see different kinds of savasanas in this series! This instructor was fine, but had a voice that grated on my ears to some degree. Neither instructor mirrored their cuing. All in all, these were way too easy for me, so I'll jump to the intermediate level tomorrow. I'm just happy I got my butt out of bed to work out this morning! The kitties were thrilled to participate along with me too
