Guest guest
HI , I saw the news clip through . Way to go!!! Your is adorable. I will never find the " Bob the Builder " theme song boring ever again. He sounded so precious. That was the first I had seen of the casting process. You and your husband have done well. I know now you must be busy preparing for the ETTP. Be sure to let us know when it is. How many parents have responded to you? I am also interested in your packet of testimonials. How many were sent in? I think ISOP in general could use it as a tool to recuit more doctors. Just a thought. Thanks for taking the time to update us on . I am soo happy for you guys and all the kids to follow after . Shellie Grant moniquetiagarcia <moniquetiagarcia@...> wrote: Hi everyone, it's from the land down under. Great news! Guest guest
Shellie, I am hoping and praying for an ETTP. We live in Fort Worth about an hour or so from ish Rite in Dallas. I have talked to about what to give him, but I would love any comments, words of wisdom and thoughts about talking to 's ortho from anyone. I am a little nervous. Not about actually talking to him, no problem there, but how he will respond. I have this grand vision of him saying, " Of course I'll do whatever I can to improve treatment " , but you just never know. It would be so awesome if ish RIte would agree to this not just for , but for all the other children in Texas and close surrounding states. Due to circumstances out of our control I will have to present this all to him the day gets his new(3rd)cast. I know directly after is a major surgery so I am not sure if he will have time to really talk so I may have to talk to him before he does 's cast. Should I wait or go ahead and do it that day? I just want him to get this in his hands ASAP! I will keep you all posted. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Hey don't forget another Texan in the group also!! We are just outside of Houston in the Spring/ Woodlands area. Tracey Re: GREAT NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA Shellie, I am hoping and praying for an ETTP. Guest guest
Hi Tasha, here. I am sorry I haven't emailed my letter yet, I will get onto it asap. I read your post about when you are speaking to your doctor, and my thoughts are that he may be too preoccupied to really listen to everything on the actual day. If it were me, I would orginise to see him in his office either at the start or the end of another day. That way he can focus solely on you. Good luck, don't take no for an answer!!! It's not about WHO is right and who is wrong, it's about doing WHAT is right for these kids, AND that is the early treatment process.(If you use that line, you've immediatley risen above the actual debate of who's right, which for me was debated for over an hour with each ortho I spoke to face to face, and focuses on the childs. Guest guest
Tasha, Let us know how it goes on the 11th. I think gave the best advice. Remind him it is about the kids, not a professional vs. pesky parent issue. I would talk to him before the casting, but if you can get him sat down either before then or a few days after that would be awesome. He needs to be sitting still with no where else to go. Ask his scheduler to make you an appointment like you would for a patient. That way you have a dedicated time slot. It would be great to get Texas trained for casting. They could serve a wide area. Also, being close to San , toddlers with big curves needing to qualify for the Veptr might be able to cast for awhile to get their curves down, grow, and then go into the Veptr. Does ish Rite halo as well? My own personal dream is to have every region well covered with the options of casting (first and foremost) but also halos (for big curves) and the Veptr. These three options can cover alot of manifestations of scoliosis. Sorry to ramble. Guest guest
I totally agree with you about who is right and wrong. He('s doctor)is all for early treatment. That is not the problem at all. I would like to see ish Rite use the correct treatment. I think that will be the struggle. We are seeing correction with 's curve so I think that is where the debate may come in to play. Maybe not. I hope I am wrong about his doctor. Anyway, I am thinking more and more about setting up an appointment with him to just talk about this. My only problem is childcare. I really do not want to take the boys. Guest guest
I spoke with Dr ston (ish Rite) about VEPTR and he immediately said he felt that it was not appropriate for ...The conversation was odd. I keep bringing it up (VEPTR) and he just doesn't want to go there. It just seems so political and shouldn't be. If I hadn't heard of VEPTR from this group, I would have NEVER heard about it! Doctors should give parents options. They should recommend second opinions. They should educate parents on innovative treatments and allow us to make educated decisions. Perhaps he is right in his assessment for my son, however he should not make it so uncomfortable for me to challenge him. Don't get me wrong, I do trust and value his opinion. He is a great surgeon. But as a parent I want to make the right decision. I'm sure I don''t have to tell any of you this... Connie Re: Re: GREAT NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA I totally agree with you about who is right and wrong. Guest guest
When MO had her halo taken off in SA Dr. was very encouraged. He told me he had turned many patients like her away, but thought that the halo prior to the Veptr would allow him to help more kids. If you email me privately I can give you email addys for the office staff. They probably wouldn't want me plastering them all over the group!! :0) Shellie tovi39@... wrote: Shellie, I submitted an application with Dr s office just before we had the Halo traction started and am still waiting to hear back...We are quite anxious to get to San for an evaluation. Connie Re: GREAT NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA Shellie, I am hoping and praying for an ETTP. Thanks, Tasha Shellie Grant <shelliegrant@...> wrote: Tasha, Are you hoping to have a full blown training there? Where in Texas are you? I would drive there just to meet everyone!!! Let us know how your ortho responds. Shellie Tasha Fontenot <ryanswalk@...> wrote: , You are such an inspiration for all of us. In the next 2 weeks I will present my son's doctor with a binder full of info about the Mehta technique and so much more. I have many stories printed out, including 's, but would love to have a story of your success in bringing the early treatment process to Australia. I think 's doctor will have an open mind and hopefully be on our side, but I want as much as possible to give him. He, 's doctor, is very aware of Ms Mehta and her great results. He actually does his versions of her casting and techniques, but has never been trained by anyone with the exact techniques. Anyway I know you are very busy with getting the ETTP together, but if you have time I would love to have your story to give to him. Thanks so much and good luck with everything. You will be in my prayers. Tasha Mommy of twins- and Fort Worth, Texas moniquetiagarcia <moniquetiagarcia@...> wrote: Hi everyone, it's from the land down under. Great news! I have successfully brought the early treatment process to Australia. Dr Angus Gray, from Sydney, has agreed to accept my donation of an AMIL frame and has spoken to Dr Min Mehta about how to cast children correctly. Dr Mehta is happy to come to Australia next year, where an ETTP will take place in Sydney. I have some major fundraising to do. has been cast correctly for the first time. His curve was back up to 57 degrees, which for a child with half a heart, is huge. His curve is now at 39 degrees. s story went Nationwide on channel seven, and it has apparantly drawn a huge amount of interest from parents in Australia wanting to know where to go to get their children treated. (So I found out today) There's a lot of work ahead of me, I've campaigned like crazy, confronting the top professors in Oz, and they had no where to go! Parent power is so amazing. Thankyou to everyone who sent me testimonials, I used them for my information pack. I'll let you all know the outcome of the ETTP! Take care everyone. I'll try and catch up on the posts when I get a spare second! --------------------------------- Access over 1 million songs - Music Unlimited. Guest guest
Hi and everyone. I have decided to wait to talk to 's doctor. I want a one on one appointment with him so he has no where to run. I want to see him squirm......LOL.....just joking. No really I think this will be so much better to present him with everything I have. And hopefully give me time to get a sitter, think through all my questions and make appointments with him and his boss(thanks I had not thought about that). Anyway we still go on Monday for 's 3rd cast and he is expecting a brochure about the AMIL frame. I will take that with me and who knows where our conversation will go. Thanks for all your support. I will keep you all posted. Tasha Mommy of twins- and Fort Worth, Texas moniquetiagarcia <moniquetiagarcia@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, it's from the land down under.
