LOL, try Propel. It has very little calories :) And, it's tastey!DarcyOn 10/13/06, jm.0511 <jm.0511@...

I had a scratchy throat two days ago, and I took Vitamin C for my

immune system. I still had a scratchy throat this morning, and I

thought I might be dehydrated, even though I drink water before &

during & after a workout. So I drank some oral rehydrating solution

(for mild to moderate fluid loss) and it did the trick. What do you

think, would it help if I replaced my fluid loss with sports drink

instead of water? But sports drink has calories!

Jienmei, I don't know anything about Propel, but I agree that you need

to watch those sports drinks. They also contain lots of sugar, which

you don't need on a regular basis. I only drink something like that

when I'm really doing something out of the ordinary that takes a lot

out of me--like the taekwondo test 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't have made

it without Gatorade.

For a scratchy throat, I also take Vitamin C. How much did you take?

I take 10,000 mg a day to fight off cold symptoms.

Congratulations Darcy on passing your primary nutrition course.

For what it's worth, I just finished and passed my primary nutrition course. They talked a bit about sports drinks. Most endurance athlete alternate between sports drinks and plain water, or you could even water down sports drinks as well. Darcy

Not too much celebrating as of yet. These were smaller certificates. However, when I complete my " big " one. I will surely be celebrating. I plan to start that maybe in December... Thanks though Kerry, you're a sweetheart :)

Carolyn,

No, it wasn't a typo. Years ago my chiropractor told me to take a

1,000mg pill every hour for 10 hours each day. That's how I do it. I

don't know if I can prove this is the right way to do it, but it seems

to help.

Thanks, I needed that reminder about the 200g sugar. I also didn't

know you could alternate water & sports drink, or dilute.

So if I need to replace, I have to work the calories off or count it

onto the day's calories, & measure it out in a glass.

I take Vit C 1000mg when I'm coming down with something. My usual

daily multivitamin has another 500mg.

Thanks, everyone for sharing your advice & experience!

I wasn't able to post much earlier because the wires on the

telephone poles were stolen. I use dial-up. The pldt (philippine

long distance telephone co.) said it's common, & our neighborhood

was the latest target.

Congratulations, Darcy! Keep up, having you as a go-to person for

nutrition would be a real plus :)
