Jackie,

Sure I do this daily. If I understand what you said correctly. It is a

good stretch out for my legs/calves, back and arms. I am starting to do

some Yoga again because my hips sometimes feel " tight " . So what you

described is a position I try called " downward facing dog " , I think. I

am not double jointed or have been told as such. I also do not have

atrophy anywhere but slightly in the lower leg (peroneal muscle) (about

3 inches worth only). And it's always been there as long as I can

remember. Other than that, my legs are in great shape - just need a better tan!

lol

I have also started a new hip stretch and squat as well in resuming

some Yoga. It is good for balance too. Standing, one leg at 90 degree

angle over other leg I am standing on. Once I feel balanced, I let go

of the bar (like in ballet) and slowly go into a one leg squat and hold

it and breathe out as I am going down. I can't remember this one's name. In

aquatics too I have added a hip/leg kick-out motion in aquatics for flexibility

and muscle strength.

Gretchen,

I am amazed at all that you can do in comparison. I could probably stand on 1

leg like you describe for about 1/10 of a second. I can not bend my knee at all

or I would fall. My knees hyperextend and if I ever bend it all all, my leg

collapses. I can't even do that in the pool without my leg giving out.
