Another note:

This is just another important reminder that there are many, many helmet programs around the country, each of them distinct. At CTI, we describe any cranial orthosis that is not a DOC Band as a " helmet " - whether it was designed by someone in California or someone in Maine. We do not mean to imply that there is a single manufacturer of helmets somewhere, a " Helmet, Inc. " that produces every other cranial orthosis.

Information you have heard on a helmet program in one location does not apply to a program someplace else, unless they are being made by the same person or company - in essence, not all helmets are created equal. Recently, it was said that one program is in the application process for FDA clearance - if true, this would not mean that all helmets are in this process; only that particular program is. If in the future a particular device is cleared for the market, that would not mean that all helmets would be cleared - only that particular device.

The reason why CTI is in different locations yet all DOC Bands are cleared is due to the fact that, as someone pointed out, all our bands are manufactured by us here in Phoenix.

Drop me a note if you have any questions on this...

Thanks,

Hodges

,

Thanks for the information. I guess you can say all DOC Bands are created

equal. Something that cannot be said for the helmets.

After reading all the posts on this board it seems like you chose the best. (DOC Band) I only say that because at Cranial Technologies that's all they specialize in. My son will be getting his this Monday coming up. I pray we get great results. Good Luck and keep us posted.

It sounds like there are a ton of different helmets out there. How did you know that the one you chose is best for your child? My son just got a DOC band one week ago. I have been VERY happy with it and am already seeing some change. Hopefully, the clinician agrees tomorrow. I didn't know there were other kinds.

That's kind of what I heard, Diane. We went with Cranial Technologies because that is who our ped. referred us to. I had no idea how popular banding was/is. I also had no idea that there were so many different options. I also tried to be proactive and NEVER thought that I would have a child with plagiocephaly. He had mild tightening of the right side neck muscles, moderate flattening on left...I never was told it was tort. After reading some of the different post, I am thankful that we were referred to CT's DOC band. So far, in one week's time I am already convinced that we made the right decision for our son. His head has already improved. Yes, we have friends and family praying for great results as well as my husband and I! Good luck to you too. Keep us posted. Phx, AZ son in DOC band "Diane M. Moreno"
