Guest guest
Sometimes feeling in the extremities is non-existent so diabetics can't feel if the water is too hot. A lot depends on the severity of the individual's case. HTH ... Guest guest
I am a diabetic and i cannot put myfeet in hot water at all. Showering is fine but any type of foot soak is a no-no because a diabetic's feet is the first part of the body to lose all sensation to feeling and touch! Its called Diabetic Neuropathy. If you place your feet in hot water you cant feel it hense making your foot condition worse!!!! Guest guest
Hi Bobbi, I asked this same question a short time ago. I did a quick search and found this info at this link ..http://www.veravistahealthcare.com/about_diabetes/what_to_do.htm Also, here is the info I received on this question. " Any hot bath is not good for anyone with a heart condition or diabetes. For the heart because when the body temp rises the heart has to pump harder therefore putting strain on an already weak heart. For diabetics because they often have poor circulation in their hands and feet and cant feel any damage being done from the heat. I was told by my surgeon that no one with heart problems or diabeties should use epsom salts because it causes the body to heat up faster then sea salts etc. Therefore according to my surgeon by using epsom salts it can be a double wammy for anyone with a condition like this. When asked about this I advise anyone with a heart problem or diabetes to not have hot baths or use a hot tubs. Better to rule on the side of caution in my opinion. " HTH. Leanna in Alberta. Guest guest
I have heard several years ago that it was not good to use Epson salts for health reasons. But never anything about sea salt. I have diabetes and use seal salt all the time. -- Green Kennewick, WA AJ's Udder Delight Dairy Goats http://www.nwinfo.net/~milkmaid UDDERly DELIGHTful Goatmilk Soap and Bath Products http://ajud.9cy.com/

Guest guest
Seems to me, if I remember it correctly, epson salts is not good for people with high blood pressure or heart problems. Since I don't really know for sure if this is true, and not wanting to possible have a problem, I use nothing but sea salt. -- Green Kennewick, WA AJ's Udder Delight Dairy Goats http://www.nwinfo.net/~milkmaid UDDERly DELIGHTful Goatmilk Soap and Bath Products http://ajud.9cy.com/

That does make sense, I admit, since epsom salts relax by warming the muscles and increasing circulation. Although I figured that might be a good thing with heart problems LOL Guess it may depend on individual cases
