Well we made it back from Erie last night albeit at midnight due to

delays etc. Marissa did well yesterday with no troubles. While the

news seems to be positive, it didn't match the past trend so the

results are tempered a bit. Her out of cast curve improved by 2

degrees to 27. The good news is that her rotation improved

significantly. You could see how in her last out of cast xrays, the

ribs were not symmetrical, now they are. Dr. was very

pleaed with the correction in the rotation. He didn't seem

disappointed in the COBB at this time, focusing more on the

rotation. Because it's a lumbar curve, he's not focusing much on

the RVAD.(it started out as lumbar and thoracic).

My disappointment was hoping for a COBB in the low 20's out of

cast. After her first cast, she corrected ten degrees out of cast.

Reading Dr. Mehta's paper again this morning has me feeling better

understanding that we're in a marathon, not a sprint. She's 18

months and her growth will continue and help her, especially after I

look at the latest in cast xray, her spine is so straight. He has

her at 12 degrees again in cast. He wants to get the rotation where

it should be, then he'll focus more on the COBB. Hopefully as she

grows, she'll start getting straighter.

He hasn't quoted any figures on the rotation, is there a certain

number that he can give me to give me an idea where we're at in

rotation? From where she started at COBB(44 or so before first

cast) to where she is now,(27 after four months) seems good to me.

My only concern is that in cast didn't get down further, however he

didn't seem concerned about that. Any thoughts on that?

Well, next appointment is July 25th. So far, so good. Thanks again

to everyone on this board. Hope everyone had a great holiday

weekend.
