Guest guest
Donna, Yes, I workout at a gym, I do an Aquatic Circuit program (in the pool) plus have taken some Pilates classes and done other work. Yes, my Internist and Orthopedist are extremely supportive of this and one or the other will write a prescription for 6 months at a time. I check in with them each 6 months for a progress check. It is deductible at tax time. Ask your neurologist to recommend you begin to work first with a physical therapist to develop a program for your needs. This is how I started with Aquatics and the fitness center and a program was developed for me and my needs. I joined on a special rate when the new center was being built and locked in a good rate. Dues are payable monthly but still at my initial fee. If you can't afford the cost of a gym/physical therapist, ask if they will let you pay on a sliding scale or offer a special rate for disabled people, such as our YMCA here does. ~ Gretchen
