Guest guest
Hi All, I was preparing a lecture for today on physical conditiong for various sports and stumbled upon a couple of quotes from various sources discussing how only on maximal effort will the optimal mix of hormone relase/neural innervation take place within the muscle. The authors then went on to say that this is the advantage maximal strength training has over other forms of resistance training. My discussion point is, can maximal effort when training on a more hypertophy-based regime of higher reps (8-12) still be achieved? In other words, does the muscle differentiate between the maximal effort required to execute 10-12 reps to exhaustion, and the maximal effort required to execute 4-6 reps to exhaustion? Any input would be greatly appreciated Darren Burgess Sydney, Australia
