Possible wrong diagnosis

Hello Everyone:

I just wanted to share an interesting bit of news from my family.

My older sister was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis over twenty

years ago. She has been on so many different types of meds for this

disease - steroids, beta seron, etc. Well, she is starting to

experience some problems with her feet and has been seeking help

from an orthotist. Her feet are starting to draw up ( her arch is

getting decidedly high) and her toes are beginning to turn under.

She also has a burning sensation in her legs, some numbness and a

slight drop foot. When she did a medical history for this doctor he

recognized the CMT history in our family and talked to her

extensively about it. He has recommended that she seek a diagnosis

or lack of one regarding the CMT. Obviously he is doubting that she

has MS. Down thru the years I have had several doctors comment that

one of is probably misdiagnosed and it most likely is her due to the

fact that there are so many relatives in our family with CMT. Has

anyone ever run into something like this? Do any of you have

siblings with a MS diagnosis? She is scared and upset. What if she

has both? Can they even distinguish that? I'll look forward to any

input anyone has on this situation.

Thanks,
