4 yr. old-hot things

My four year old has developed a new obsession in the last couple of

months. He has an uncontrollable desire to touch things he know is

hot. It started with my curling iron. I can't use it anymore

until he is at school or I've got him busy doing something else. He

touches all the night lights that are plugged in in the house. Last

week he touched the light bulb in the lamp in the living room. At

Christmas he couldn't keep his hands off the Christmas tree lights

when they were plugged in. Three nights ago I let him take a bath

in my bathroom and I had candles burning. He got in the tub and sat

in the furthest corner from the candles. I asked him what he was

doing and he said " I have to sit over here or I will have to touch

those candles. " When I asked him why he said " because he has to,

his hands make him do it. " Now I am worried. He was just

diagnosed in September with OCD. He counts on his fingers, checks

his pants constantly for accidents, his room is neat as pie. He

makes his own bed now because I don't do it right. His animals on

his bed and dresser have to be just so. He used to be so concerned

with his face being clean that he would check in the mirror every 15

minutes and would wipe it constantly with baby wipes until his face

was raw. We took wipes away from him completely. He got to the

point he wouldn't eat for fear of getting his face dirty. We have

overcome that now thank goodness with the help of 20mg of Celexa.

He knows he has OCD. For being four he does pretty well talking back

to it. He tells it NO alot when it makes him repeat his questions

over and over, or check his pants. Getting dressed used to be a big

issue, but is much better now also. It seems like we trade one

thing for another though. This touching hot things is scaring

me. Has anyone ever dealt with anything similar to this or have any

opinions on what I should do? Thanks in advance, Jenni-Indiana
