Guest guest
Oh, I am so sorry to hear that he is sick. But, it is great news that they are going to get him in to be casted sooner. I sure hope the meds do the trick so that he can get his cast next week. Poor fella. You know, I never put two and two together until reading this....Ian was sick all the time as an infant with colds and since his casting he hasn't had any respitory issues. Hmmmm. Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) Evan's Cast Hi all- I had Evan in the Dr today and they x-rayed him for pneumonia did the flu test and they were both neg, they didn't test him for RSV (don't ask me why?!)-but they went ahead and treated him for pneumonia since it looked like it may develop. I explained all this to you b/c after all of this happened and after all the sickness he has been through, the ped and I had discussed and Dr. and I " d discussed that his scoli and rib rotation might be affecting his respiratory conditions and worsening them. So to make a long story short, I called Shriners and he has been rescheduled for Tuesday the 21st for his first cast. Enough is enough and I want him better and I truly feel the casting will help him tremendously in so many ways. We are going to start breathing treatments tomorrow and they will re-xray him on Fri and do a f/u to make sure he is ok for the cast on Tuesday (we'll travel up on Monday). Please keep him in your prayers and pray that the Lord will heal him and make him completely better so he can have his cast applied on Tuesday. Thanks for listening. evan 8/7/
Guest guest
You are both in my thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad he's getting in earlier for his cast! Good luck the rest of this week. I hope you're both getting some rest. mom to and Jake basketsnboyds <basketsnboyds@...> wrote: Hi all- I had Evan in the Dr today and they x-rayed him for pneumonia did the flu test and they were both neg, they didn't test him for RSV (don't ask me why?!)-but they went ahead and treated him for pneumonia since it looked like it may develop. Guest guest
Y'all will certainly be on our minds and in our heart's for what is hopefully a very rapid recovery and successful casting. I just thought I would throw one thing out there. I'm not sure where you live, but you may find this of interest. Dr. ston of Texas ish Rite Hospital has an ongoing study of the pulmonary function as related to early onset scoliosis. I think it's great he's looking at the whole body approach. I'm not sure if this would help anyone or not, but you may get some helpful info from him or his staff. His nurse, Cheryl, is very helpful. Guest guest
& Group I was so sure that the scolio was causing h to have a chronic cough and runny nose, it seems she has always been on meds and sick. Her chest X-ray was clear - I was very surprised! Dr. said it is probably allergies and the gunk running down the back of her throat is what makes her cough. Mom has always had smoke around her so I'm sure that did not help! I am suppose to get a urine sample in a cup - yeah get this one - I already did the bag urine sample and it was contaminated - so now they want me to chase her around the house until she goes pee - well I was doing just that Sunday and the minute I turned my back she pee'd all over my couch - yeah almost next to impossible. She only weighs 20 lbs and they say a kidney infection could be why she is not gaining weight? So this weekend I will chase her all over the house again in the AM to get her to pee! I pray evan gets well quick and I am also patiently waiting till the 21st with you. Everything got pushed back because h was sick - so the waiting is horrible. I'm in Erie - if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask! Our thoughts and prayers are with you! & h basketsnboyds <basketsnboyds@...> wrote: Hi all- I had Evan in the Dr today and they x-rayed him for pneumonia did the flu test and they were both neg, they didn't test him for RSV (don't ask me why?!)-but they went ahead and treated him for pneumonia since it looked like it may develop. Guest guest
Good luck with that- I know how that has been with my 2year old daughter- not fun!!! I actually would clean out the potty real well and pour boiling water in it and then they said I could let her sit on her potty and then pour it into the cup- Just an idea. Will you and h be at Shriners on the 21st? We'd love to meet you all if you are. Thanks for the kind words. Guest guest
They put him on breathing treatments and I hope that will help get him well faster. He still is coughing quite a bit today and not eating well, but we have until Monday to travel , so I feel pretty good about him feeling better. We'll keep everyone posted. It makes sense to think the URI and the scoli are somewhat related, doesn't it?! Claflin <noellesmommy@...> wrote: Oh, I am so sorry to hear that he is sick. Guest guest
Just wanted to add that the Dr's office just called and he does have RSV- that is terrible news with the casting being moved, so I put a call into Erie and they're supposed to get back in touch- I'll bet we'll just have to keep his origional date in March. I'll let you all know--- <basketsnboyds@...> wrote: They put him on breathing treatments and I hope that will help get him well faster. Guest guest
Thanks- I talked to Shriners and the anesthesiologist said we'd have to wait until his orig. cast date of Mar 14th to make sure he clears up completely. We have to keep him away from everyone for 4 weeks until time to go. Try explaining that to his 2 year old sister!!! I am just so bummed--- but what to do?!!
