Anne,

What an inspiration you are!!! I would have loved to have been there to see your Drs. faces when you told them about your exercising. LOL! I think it's amazing you are doing so well just six weeks after your episode. Good for you. Keep track of how you feel, and pay attention to what your body is telling you. I can't believe you're doing Cathe workouts.

Keep up the great work.

Kerry

I skipped writing this last week, but writing this each week helps me get up and exercise, so I'm just going to start up again!

Last Friday was pretty funny, I was at my AICD interrogation appointment (I have an implanted defib/pacemaker) and the man from the implant company and my dr. were debating whether some of my recorded high heart rates were from good causes or bad. The dr. asked if I exercised, I said yes, and he asked what kind and how often. So I told him. Both he and the other man were staring at me in utter shock! You should have seen the look on their faces! I was a little afraid the dr. would tell me to scale back, but he said no, it was good, just a little unusual for a new heart patient! Sometimes I feel wimpy reading the posts from more advanced exercisers here, but now I just remember that compared to most heart patients six weeks after the "event", I'm doing spectacular!

Anyway, my week:

Last Friday: Basic Step with Cathe

Saturday: 60 min on glider using Video Hiker tape

Sunday: rest day, but I did take a 30 min walk on my lunch hour.

Monday: Basic Step

Tuesday: I did a couple videos on OnDemand, one a hip-hop dance tape that was pretty bad. The cueing was awful (I don't call "pay attention, we're going to do something different" or "did you catch the change I just made?" cueing!) and I didn't even break a sweat. The only thing that made it hard was the lousy cueing. Then I did an abs segment-- Double Pulse, I think. I liked that one.

Wednesday: Body Fusion with Cathe. Not all the segments, though. I did the warmup, two of the step sequences, the squats and the biceps, then the cooldown.

Thursday: Fiesta Fitness Dance with Giselle; Upper Body segment from the Basic Step DVD.

I can finally do weights, but I'm keeping them light and skipping dead lifts on my dr.'s advice. I'm a little sore today, but it feels good!

Anne,

I'm with Carolynn - you are really inspirational! I'm a little broken

too so you are not alone! As long as we don't over do it but keep it

steady our health will be better! Hang in there and keep posting as

often as you can.

Thank you, Carolyn! I don't know whether it's because I took dance lessons as a kid....or because I was a teenager in the age of Disco.....or because all celebrations around here have to include the Electric Slide.... but I usually don't have problems with dance workouts. Even the ones that I stumble with at first viewing I "get" the second or third time. Now, step and kickboxing workouts cause _me_ trouble! I was actually pretty astonished I "got" Basic Step as fast as I did! Anyway, I don't think anyone could keep up with the choreo on that workout. I'm glad it was on OnDemand's exercise TV, if I'd paid money for it I'd be mad I need to get a notebook and write down the name of the workouts I get on Exercise TV and my opinion, since they're clipped from videos and DVDs that are out there already. I'd hate to buy the tape that workout's on! Well, I'm off to visit my daughter's college, it's family weekend! I'm taking my exercise clothes and my swimsuit so I can exercise with my daughter!Have a good week Carolyn! (Blushing) Oh, I don't know.....I just read about a young woman who had a pacemaker implanted four years ago and ran the Ironman triathlon qualifier last year. Now _that's_ inspirational! (Also crazy, but that's beside the point )Yes, our health will improve! We'll both get through this! I don't know about you, but I think exercising is what's keeping me sane here. It feels like I'm taking control of the situation! Anne ----- Original Message ----- From: claudiaynesto Anne,I'm with Carolynn - you are really inspirational! Thanks for the encouragement, Kerry! I'm only doing the "beginner" Cathe workouts, I've seen some of her more advanced workouts on Fit TV and I don't think I'll be up to them in a loooooong time. Which beginner workouts of Cathes are you doing? I have the three DVD set with Total Cardio Step (with three step workouts), Total muscle sculpting (total body, upper body, and lower body, plus stability ball abs), and Total Body Stretching (with three stretching workouts, 2 are using the stability ball). I'm not sure if these are beginner workouts, I'm fairly new to Cathe and someone on another list recommended these to me.

I still think you are doing great,

Pretty good deal! I'm sure you will get another chance at them. You are so lucky to have Fit TV. We don't get it now that we have ExpressVu.

I just have the Basic Step/Body Fusion DVD. There's another one I want, can't remember what it's called. I think I'll look for the Total Body Stretching. Hi Anne,

I have the basic step/Body fusion on the Cardio step workout and I also have a low impact workout on there as well. Good luck finding the total body stretching.
