Guest guest
Hi, I too, would like some advice on the Zoloft. Also, any other experiences regarding Paxil too. My son, Mike, is going to be 17 this month, has been on Luvox for two years. The Dr. mentioned he might switch him to another antidepressant, such as Paxil or Zoloft next time we see him, as the Luvox seems to have lost its effect. Hello, Marsha, its nice to hear from you. This list is a lifeline for me. Jan
Guest guest
I take it myself for depression, and have for about 7 years. It makes me sleepy, too, so I take it at bedtime (along with a couple other meds that have the same effect on me). I take 100 mg, but I am obviously much bigger than your son. They tried giving it to my daughter last summer when she was first diagnosed with OCD. The dose was very low, 25 mg, but it seemed to intensify her symptoms. Actually, it's possible that it just didn't do anything and her symptoms simultaneously worsened. We'll never know for sure. Anyway, after a few weeks of trying to adjust dosage (at one point, a very small dose of Risperdal was added, too), we switched doctors and he changed her to Prozac. Within a few days of the switch we saw marked improvement. As I said, we'll never know whether it was coming off the Zoloft, going on the Prozac or a combination of the two that made the difference. He's almost 11 yrs old, but he's small, 57 lbs. He gets very sleepy about 2 hours after the dose is given, and it makes him nauseated. Any advice? Is this temporary because it's new? Anything to help with this? What is your opinion of this med? Does it help? My fingers are crossed, I sure hope this helps him! Thanks.....Sue __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Sue, My son was on Zoloft. It helped him (thought Luvox has helped even more). He also had problems with nausea. Yes, usually it's temporary. If it's helping his symptoms, please give him a chance to adjust to it, because it will be worth it. I used over-the-counter acid medications like Pepcid, which helped. It didn't seem to last long (the side effects) with my son-seemed to be about 2 weeks or so. Guest guest
My son has taken Zoloft for almost 2 years now. He always eats something when he takes it- a waffle, crackers, ice cream, an apple- but always something. Hope that helps, Joy > > Hi everyone, I have a few questions about Zoloft, for anyone whose > child is on it. > > My son was started on Zoloft 20 mg on Monday.
