Guest guest
Hi , Thank you so much!! The walk was intense but well worth the effort. I had my last reconstruction surgery in mid March of 2005 and was able to start exercising in April so I started just walking for 15 minutes at a time then worked my way up to actually logging miles and ended up very comfortably enjoying doing 10-15 miles in a day by late June. I walked at least 3-5 miles almost every day, usually pushing my little girl (then 3) in her umbrella stroller which ended up feeling like a double workout! When she'd whine I'd tell her she was helping me train for the 3-Day and when it came time for the event she wondered why she couldn't go with me! :-) As for the weight loss, thank you! That came from being super committed (finally). I'm a Weight Watcher Lifetime Member and have been for 21 years but finally got really serious this year and have been attending meetings, journaling what I eat, drinking my water and really being committed to my own health and success. At one of my oncology checkups the nurse practitioner, obviously seeing how my weight had gone up again said, "How's your weight?" And I said, not moving in the right direction, but I'll take care of that. She said fine and that was it. Being overweight might be a contributor to breast cancer and it is obviously a factor in tons of other health issues. That little comment was just a huge wake up call. I had been given another chance to be healthy and raise my kids (they're almost 5 and 8 now) and I didn't want to let it go... 6 months later at my next appointment she told me not to lose any more weight!! :-) That was more than you probably wanted to know but my fingers started typing and I couldn't stop!!! :-) Re: New here, suggestions & eBay Hi , Welcome to the group! wow the breast cancer walk is very impressive, I would love to be able to do something like that. Congratulations on the weight loss, you must be doing something right! You'll get lots of feedback at this list. Hope to hear more from you. Guest guest
, You are welcome. Remember you can get books, videos from other library systems, so if your library doesn't have what you'd like you can search other libraries. I'm not sure how it's done in the States, but you could ask your local library and they could help you. Good luck, Kerry Kerry, Thank you so much for the encouragement and sharing your own learning curve with me!! I really appreciate your taking the time to write this, makes me feel like slightly less of a klutz! :-) I think I will have to plan a trip to my library soon too! Guest guest
Different communities have different systems but we have interlibrary loan for at least some materials here. Will start making a list and checking for them (one at a time) at the library, thanks again! Re: New here, suggestions & eBay , You are welcome.
