Hello, New Friends,

My, how I enjoy checking in each day!! (which is different that

" checking " each day haha) I am a little freaked by discussion of PANDAS

and antibiotics.....Should I be exploring treatments other than SSRI's and

E/RP? I would feel terrible if I left an important stone unturned. (This

is a regular question, not an OCD plea for reassurance :) ) My 11 year

old () who has the most symptoms was sick all the time as an

infant, and even now gets sick the most easily and stays sick the longest.

I don't remember if she ever had strep, though.

As I read more literature, I realize more fully that my 15 year old

() does definitely have OCD, and I feel sad that my pride and

embarrassment kept me from checking out things that didn't make sense

earlier.....but I'm not going to flagellate myself over this. She has

always been VERY afraid of making mistakes, and her nervousness and anxiety

embarrassed me, because I felt that it gave the appearance that we beat her

for every error. EEK! Anyway, she will get help now.

Regarding Viagra, let me clarify that it does not affect libido

(supposedly) but is very useful for, shall we say, satisfaction in the end

result. Prozac had killed that for me......very odd.....left " hovering. "

I like that it's an " as-needed " medication and not every day.....unless I

needed it every day....in my dreams!!!!!

I now find that I am able to settle down and read all of the books and

brochures that I purchased from the OCF nine months ago. I was hoping I

wouldn't " need " them.....denial is not just a river in Egypt. Anyway, I

see our family very clearly in the " enabling " camp, and I'm glad we're

ready to actually help our children instead of just making things worse.

Here's a question, though: What about the sensory stuff? Do we try to use

E/RP on the shoes feeling " weird " and the store being too " loud " (for

example), or is this a different category?

Are other people's kids better in the summer? Is it exercise? Less

stress? Chlorine? :) Fond Regards,
