Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Share Posted February 5, 2006 okay, i'm a little computer savvy, but i'm not sure what to do to help get rid of this thing. here are a couple of things that i've done. please add to my list if you have any suggestions: i blacklisted the " may " e-mail address with my e-mail provider. i use a mac based e-mail program so it didn't have that option in the program itself -- maybe outlook or eudora or other e-mail systems have that option? therefore, i went to rcn (my provider) and they have an area where you can blacklist certain e-mail addresses. maybe that will help jennifer c? i have stopped receiving e-mails directly from and instead read them on the website and post through the website versus e-mail. i see that jerry is still able to post viruses to the group. i know that heather turned off attachments, but his e-mails also have text so it goes through to the group without the attachments. perhaps heather is right that he should close his id and reapply for a new one. heather you should e-mail jerry and see if his computer is infected or it's just the virus sending e-mail with his name like it was before with all of us. notice that only people who recently posted had their ids and e-mail address " infected " and sent virus attachments to the group. i wonder why it didn't take all of the members names and e-mail addresses and send viruses to the group. (scratching my head over this one, but it must be the way the virus works) one last thing -- i had been getting bounce back e-mails from groups saying that my e-mail could not be posted since it contained attachments (but no text). obviously i did not send this e-mail. it is " someone " using all of our e-mail addresses and ids to send out viruses. i have no idea how. i haven't had any from me in over 24 hrs so i'm hopeful that it has died down??? i can't do anything about those since i can't blacklist myself =) my norton antivirus doesn't allow my e-mail to download them and catches all of these. plus, i have a mac, and it wouldn't work anyway. the only other thing that i can think of is for heather to contact and ask what else can be done. that's it from me! deshea > > > > > > I hope everyone understood what I said in my last post. Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Share Posted February 5, 2006 i don't think " gerry " is intentionally doing it. just like the first email i think this started happening with was " gail " . i have a group on that i moderate for may 2201 babies and i had to temporarily block everything until this gets settled. it was really bad in there. once i went to no mail, may_flor_nikki or whatever the name is is the only person i still get them from. that and the every so often " meeage is undeliverable " one. give it a few more days and hopefully all this will be gone!! tracey > > > > > > I hope everyone understood what I said in my last post. Guest guest Posted February 5, 2006 Report Share Posted February 5, 2006 You know May maybe the one who's infecting everyone and she doesn't even own it, in her first or second post she mentioned that she uses a computer that is a ways from her and that she has to pay for time on it. Isn't that where that one virus " Love Letter " came from, eans? Not sure how other countries handle the computer issues like that. My emails are coming straight from telling me that they can't deliver the message that I never wrote. There are no names on mine.
