Guest guest
Well, a few ideas. Powder, lots of powder! twice a day if you can, especially after bathing. Once it gets better, try putting a small face cloth or something like that in there if you can. it will help keep the skin apart and keep it dry. I would wait though with the cloth until it heals, it might stick to the blood. Will
Guest guest
thanks a lot Will. wasnt sure about powder whilst it was bleeding so thanks for the reassurance. pa just gone powder hunting for me as i would prefer a cornstarch one, which did you use?. have you experience something like this bleeding before? if so how long til bleeding stopped? maybe i should get cream wiped off. thanks again for speedy response. Guest guest
I like Calmoseptine as it heals and protects against moisture and breakdown. Guest guest
i have the exact same problem, though, it hasn't been that bad in years. i'm sorry...i know it's quite painful. 2x per day i used cotton balls and hydrogen peroxide to clean it, a hair drier to lessen the moisture, and then powdered it with cornstarch which is much finer than talc. after the bulk of the bleeding has healed, i agree with will about putting fabric between the skin...100% cotton that is smooth without loose fibers. this sort of breakdown is caused by yeast. adhering to a candida diet will also help. fingers crossed! alana
Guest guest
I had a similar problem a while ago. I would say that you can put a clean (sterile) cloth on it even if it is bleeding. Keep it clean and take a shower often if you can. Ask your PA or whoever everyday what it looks like cuz it can be hard to tell which treatments are working and which are not if you cannot see the area yourself. My breakdown was small first, then got bigger cuz I wasn't treating right and wasn't paying attention. When it really started hurting I knew something had to be done immediately. I called my friend who had had skin problems cuz he was tetraplegic. He gave me the names for a number of products he had used to treat pressure sores. My skin breakdown started healing fast after I followed his regime. smiles Taya Re: skin breakdown I like Calmoseptine as it heals and protects against moisture and breakdown. Either will suffice. I prefer baby powder. It didn't bleed - he's exaggerating! It oozed because I made him scratch it as I was dying of itchiness. Guest guest
I have this problem sometimes. My skin there is very weak. If someone presses too hard while washing there, it starts to bleed. I just have people wash it carefully. I find putting cream on it or putting a cloth in there just make it worse. Guest guest
I have similar problems from time to time. Keeping the area dry seems to be a key for me. Baby powder with aloe seems to do the trick about 98% of the time. Just dust the area and slightly rub it in (just barely). I do this every day to prevent problems. The powder just absorbs moisture. I like the smell of real baby powder too, but if you don't, you can buy unscented. Guest guest
I intend to ask my mother (an airforce RNA, inactive) what she would do. Off the top of my head is to be sure to wear mainly cotton clothing (pants and undies) and to use corn starch to dry up the area. Maybe after you've sprinkled the starch slide in a small, smooth, cotton cloth to keep the skin separated. If Ma has any other thoughts, I will post them. Oh, if time allows, get yourself a heatlamp and lay down or position yourself comfy and aim the heatlamp at your raw skin area for 15-20 minutes. Try at least once a day or more. This may aid in speeding up the recovery time then just place an absorbant material in between your " skin flaps. Guest guest
sorry for previous empty message. thanks for your ideas angie. as the skin is so folded would be very difficult to do heat lamp thing unless some prised my hip from my side and held it like that. would be very awakward for pa to do that for even 5 mins. cheers linda Re: skin breakdown I intend to ask my mother (an airforce RNA, inactive) what she would do. Guest guest
Once it heals some try using blister/chafing gel/cream. I have many places where skin folds and rubs because of my twisted body and found Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel works GREAT. Seconded best sport blister barrier like bodyglide or blistershield. You can get them a drugstores or sport shops. I also use a little anti fungal cream or powder at night to stop any growth. I use Aloe Vesta 2 in 1 Antifungal.

Guest guest
, Another product worth trying is Gold Bond Powder. It absorbs moisture well. It has a scent when you first put it on, but the scent goes away pretty quickly. Danny used to get " cracks " in folds of his skin sometimes that really hurt when he was heavier, especially in the summer. I hope it heals up quickly for you, and you find something to help prevent getting it again.

Hmmm...I use it almost every day. I hate to admit it, but at my age the boobies are beginning to sag a bit, and the Gold Bond keeps away the rash that was showing up underneath on hot summer days. I haven't noticed any burning, but I can imagine that it might if there was an open sore. I'd get it healed up first if going to try the Gold Bond as a preventive. Guest guest
Our son has had several breaks in the skin where it folds over. We have had good luck using Neosporin (not sure about the spelling) ointment. It comes in a white cream or a petroleum base...very small tube but a little goes a long way. Hope this info is helpful, but I realize the same thing doesn't work for everyone. --------------------------------- FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
