Hi Joana,

I have tremors too. I take Elavil (Amitriptyline) low dose that

controls them very well. Not everyone with CMT has tremors. In 1926

or so, researchers Roussy and Levy found a family with CMT and these

tremors and so this then became " Roussy Levy CMT " . One of the

research papers I have read suggested these tremors were connected to

the first family found with CMT Type 1B. But many people with different types of

CMT have tremors. This tremor is known as " essential tremor " . Here's a website

on essential tremor (it is not restricted only to CMT) http://www.wemove.org/et/

Elavil is marketed under different names in different countries. Take

a look at this list and look up Domical (United Kingdom). Quite

possibly other names from this list may be available in the UK as

well. Don't be confused by the information about Elavil being an anti-

depressant. So it is, but it has other uses too, like to help with

neuropathy pain and even bed-wetting!

I have not found a suitable herbal replacement for Elavil. As I mentioned to you

when we spoke, Kava, the real stuff, seemed to be the best replacement - but not

what we can buy here in capsule form in the U.S. Then someone mentioned St.

's Wort to me for tremors, but I have never tried that.
