Guest guest
Hi - I am curious if anyone has resources for a specialzed diet and exercise plan for those with CMT. Right now I pretty much do my own routine of exercises, including swimming and walking, but am having a difficult time losing weight. Even with a diet plan my weight loss is *very* slow. My neurologist is looking into getting me an appointment with the metabolic clinic which may be of some help. However, I was wondering if anyone has come across a clinic and/or physician that deals with CMT patients to come up with a specialized plan of combined diet and exercise. Any references would be appreciated. Thanks - Cheryl
Guest guest
Cheryl, Several months ago Greg , MD, CMT doctor in Washington State recommended that persons with CMT follow a " heart healthy " diet. So you might want to check with the American Heart Association for their plan. Loosing weight is supposed to be slow. Like I did 2 lbs loss each week for 3 months, increased exercise to 6 days a week, plus changed what I ate, when, and most importantly, how much. Somewhere here in our archives is the written out diet I followed. I will see if I can find it and repost. I am also wondering if you have had your thyroid checked lately? Sometimes if that's out of balance, it can affect/not affect weight loss. Gretchen
