Guest guest
Jackie, Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for having the courage to face the TV cameras and discuss your most private pains and fears. Our family taped " 48 hrs " and watched it twice. Please tell that his bravery was an inspiration to the 12-year old OCDer in our house. He taught her that she is not alone in her suffering... that it's OK to talk about OCD... and that she's lucky to have doctors who diagnosed her right the first time. If can muster the courage to bare his soul to the television audience, then I'm certain he has the courage to further tackle his OCD. Remind him that most OCD patients suffer to a smaller degree than he does, but can't muster the courage to discuss their private misery openly. As my 8-year old non-OCD daughter observed, " Mom, he's better off than because he can talk about it. " Make sure gives himself the credit he deserves. Guest guest
Dear Betsy, Please tell your eight year old daughter that she has a good head on her shoulders. That was a very wise comment. I know I have felt much freer, knowing I don't have to keep it all a secret from friends and family. And I know has helped so many family members to better realize how much the OCD'ers dislike their disorder and how difficult it is to fight it. I am looking forward to the day when 's " baby steps " finally get him his life back. Take care, Jackie
