Hi Everyone,

Things just continue to go well. Moriah was moved to the regular floor

yesterday. She spent less than 48 hours in the PICU! She is on lowered doses

of pain meds in rotation and eating solid food. We hope to start her regular

home meds for her appetite and bowels tomorrow. She has been up on her feet

twice today to walk out into the hallway. We will do it again 1-2 more times

today and keep increasing the distance over the weekend. It is slow going. Her

right side is extremely sore due to the 4 incisions and all the work done there.

It may take up to 6 weeks for the pain to fully go away.

She has been such a sweet girl through it all. Today we worked on some

homework. I am her secretary! She tells me which answers to mark on her

sheets. We're also doing some stamping and beads (thanks again Gail for the

kits). 's allergies are doing better (mountain cedar? It's a San

thing apparently). He and are out and about having fun. We had a yummy

meal last night from one of the church members (Kendall and ). They know

Pastor Rick's dad. Apparently their former Pastor in Nebraska has swapped

pulpits with Pastor Rick's dad in the Overland Park area. I believe the lady

who sat with us during the surgery is going to give me a small break from the

hospital on Sunday after church so I can enjoy some time with and .

I anticipate Mo moving around more this weekend, especially in the bowel

department. Then they may start talking of home. It is reasonable to shoot for

anywhere from Tues-Thurs of next week.

I can't thank you all enough for all the prayers. They have truly been heard

and are making all the difference. We will be home soon!!! I miss my bed!!! I

joked that Mo is the one who had surgery with a smile, and I get grumpy over the

recliner contraptions that hinder sleep (in my opinion!) :0)

We love you all,

Shellie

Shellie,

It's good to read an email that talks about bowels and other personal things

while your updating all of us on Mo, says that Mo is doing really well and

there isn't much to worry about. Lol.

Glad to hear that Mo is doing well and she is able to get up, even if it's

for a few minutes at a time.

I'm so happy that Mo has already been moved out of PICU!

That's " awesome " (I love that N. American expression!!!LOL).

Considering all she has been through, its great that she is already

walking, eating etc.

I know that Bert and I always have a joke about those " beds " us

parents get to 'sleep' in, and then we look at what our little guys

go thru, and it does put it all back in perspective!!! I know I

always think (usually at 3 AM....) that I can sleep when we get

home...

Continuing hugs and get well soon vibes coming Mo's way.

Bert - You're right! We don't care about sleep when we're up

chatting until... Was it really 2 AM?????

We'll miss each other as much as the kids!!!! But, thinking

ahead.... (As you know I'm inclined to do - LOL).... November? Will

Bridge be close to a visit then? Siobhan *may* be due an expansion

then, as it would be 6 months.....

Enjoy what's left of you weekend....

You are amazing Jacki..... as a matter of fact I was thinking we could swing the

next one together if we think it out well enough. It all depends on whether

they put a cast on Bridge this time or not.

We were talking about it tonight and Bridget asked again why Siobhan wasn't

going to be there this time and I said it was because Siobhan was having an

operation to hold her spine straight from the inside and she said " well I think

we should tell them that I will have that operation too then Siobhan and me

could do it together!!!! "

Great bonding hey!

The books sound great. Who is the author and I'll see if I can find it here.

That takes friendship to new heights!!!! Bridgey getting the VEPTR

just to see Siobhan!!!

I asked Siobhan yesterday if she had ONE wish what would it be....

And she said to go to Australia and see Bridget!!!!!! I threw in

Mickey Mouse, dolphines in Hawaii, England to see her cousin......

She asked if she could have more than one? I said no, the one thing

you'd wish for more than anything in the world. And she stuck with

Plan #1 - Bridgey!!!!!

I guess we'd better start saving then eh????

I don't know that I could sell that to Dr D'Astous. Well who knows, if the

girls are determined enough I'm sure they could make it happen. It is lovely to

see them together and I am sure by November they will want to see us again. I

will have to let Daz do the in between visit because then it will be my turn in

November again.

Must go, I am determined to go for a walk tonight. i am turning into Mrs

Thanks Jacki,

I finally got some good sleep Sat. night. Last night was not so great again.

I believe they are going to dismiss her tomorrow. Then it is back to sharing a

single with at the Mc House for one night. We will leave

on Wednesday, drive to Dallas, and stay one night at a hotel!!!!! I may just

take a bubble bath!! We will drive the rest of the way home Thursday. I have a

VEPTR patient guide book for you. They said that every site should have it, but

I needed one for so I asked for an extra. Mo is doing so great. I do

my horride British accent to make her laugh. She and her brother say I sound

like the Super Nanny lady on TV. I've always been partial to the phrase " well

done you " .

Hugs to you all in Canada. We're almost home!!

Hi Betty

Sorry about the bowel stuff. I'm just the type of person to give you the

whole story. Being here is not easy, I do leave out some of the more personal

or painful details. I just want others to have a realistic view of what goes on

here. I know you can understand from personal experience. Such a fight to get

a somewhat straight back and some room to breathe. I'm so thankful that the

little babies now can be casted and not go down this road.

Hi Shellie

I'm hoping that Mo's discharge goes as planned, and you'll be on the

road home soon - By the weekend? Have a safe drive, and if you do

stop at a hotel along the way, enjoy the soak in the tub!!!!

Lots of gentle hugs to Mo from her friends in Canada - I hope she

doesn't laugh at my English accent, when we do meet up, one day.....

And I know we will...

Take care
