Guest guest
I am wondering if anyone knows anything about this system of training? It is about increasing vertical jumping ability and decreasing sprint times in about 6 weeks. It uses a treadmill to test people on and I guess to train on as well. They use resistive/assistive cords and machines to develop hip strength. I don't know their teachings on good form in sprinting or jumping and am wondering if anyone has encountered the system. I love this program, however you can do all the excercises they do on your own but this is just really nice and convenient i just wish i had one here in california i used to have on iowa and i loved. It helped my quiet a bit increased my 40 time by .2 and i dunno about verticle i never tested. They really emphesize good form and core strength, ABs and lowerback and hip flexors andextendors. The trainer there said it basically trains your nervous system for any kind of stimulant and teaches i gues your NS to respond quicker , thats for the treadmill work. Then thers plyo work where if youve ever done plyos its pretty much the same thing you used wieghts after awhile. If you need more info i am not the real discriptive type or need real scientific stuff just wait for siff, seems really knowledgable havin an MD and all helps hout too so he/she? probebly get your questions answered. I just talked to a football strength coach who did a little informal experiment and found that the group that performed the same Frappier running protocol using normal " over ground " running got better improvements in running speed than a group that trained on the Frappier high speed treadmill. $10,000.00 for a treadmill that doesn't do anything significantly better (and possibly worse) than an identical " over ground " program doesn't make much sense to me. Especially when only one person at a time can be on the treadmill. Burkhardt Strength and Conditioning Coach UC Irvine
Guest guest
I was an intern at FAST Program in Boca Raton FL, and we use Frappier equipment. I liked what we did there. I thought we should have done more over ground running though. The treadmills are great however. You can correct specific technical flaws while they are running, train the hip flexors by having a high elevation while having to run at a good speed. The rest of the equipment is pretty basic, hip machine, plyo press (a leg press machine that was big and sturdy enough to do jumps on) and a plyo board with numbers that you do certain patterns on for agility. This plyo board also had bands that attached to a harness so you could do resisted jumping. A couple of unique things that come with the Frappier program are sprint cords that are bands for resisted running that attach to the thighs and ankles. The idea is that it resists hip flexion as well as the " grab and pull " part of the sprint. Also I believe it isn't suppose to change the recruitment patterns of the sprinting motion. Unlike attaching something to the waist with a belt or vest. They also have something called throwing cords and kicking cords. these are similar in concept to the sprint cords. they attach directly to the upper and lower parts of the arm and leg, respectively, in order not to alter recruitment patterns. All in all I feel it's a good system of training. The strength program isn't real big except for the plyo press and hip machines. If the Frappier site has good coaches than it is a good place to train. However I have heard that some sites have just " techs " guys that say when to go and when to stop, but don't coach form and technique real well. I would recommend FAST in Florida for the best training with Frappier Equipment. Shane Steinbach Texas
Guest guest
Yes you can do all t he excercises on your own but you can fix teqnique while running which is a big benafit and also i noticed that i could after i finished the program that for example i could run a 100 yard dash then run an 800m and still have the power left? i dunno if power is the right word i dont know how to describe it even being layed out over a period of time with being out of shape i could still run very well. that may be confusing but im sure if anyone in here has done the program they understand. it also takes less work i feel to get back into shape after a layoff. Its a very good program i think for soccer players who need to have that extra kick any time this does it b/c in a workout you could do say a 10 second sprint and hold for 5 seconds which is holding onto the bar and doing long strides or high knees then do another 10 second sprint and so on like that. if you would like more information as to what you do i could try and remember and post it.
