Guest guest
Welcome . Thanks so much for introducing yourself. I have been diagnosed with CMT for many years too. Even with an early diagnosis, It took me years to really " accept " it. I was diagnosed at age 10; about age 27 I finally got into some " acceptance " about having CMT. And it wasn't an immediate acknowledgement either. For me it seems the acceptance in general and acceptance of limitations (which aren't as many as I used to have) was a process of coming to really understand my body and its needs and that my " body " was not seperate from me, if this makes sense. For years, I just sort of had my CMT wrapped up in a box, easily hidden. To this day people who have known me for years are so surprised when I start talking about something knew I found on CMT research (and my excitement therein) because they remark " I never knew you had anything like this " . lol, I guess I was in the " CMT Closet " so to speak, and finally " came out " ! lol As for limitations, that's hard. I struggled with limitations big time as a teen, but pushed on and fortunately for medication and a supplement my teen years were pretty normal. I am wondering if you have considered trying out part-time work or having some flex-time within your current full-time work that might help? Again, welcome and I hope you find to be very upbeat and helpful. ~ Gretchen/Founder-
