Guest guest
What a little trooper she is! Glad to hear the surgery went well. And, how wonderful that the people from the church are being so supportive. Wow. I got chills reading your post. Noelle (12-2-01) Ian (8-15-04) How Moriah is doing HI everyone, Just taking a break here. The laptop threw a driver, so I am in the medical library. We have had a GREAT trip so far. Largely due to the church down here. For those of you from Grace, we found a church here with a fellow MS graduate as their Pastor. We visited on Sunday morning and evening. When we told them we were here for Moriah and what all would happen we were invited to dinner. One family volunteered to watch yesterday and another woman sat with us in the waiting room the whole time. We have been so blessed by their generousity and prayers for Moriah. Moriah is doing even better than last time. She did not require a central line or the foley catheter. She is awake, being turned over and has already started on liquids by mouth. She is now allergic to Morphene. The first dose (yesterday post op) produced a reaction that they quickly treated with Benedryl. This was something new for her. She is having her pain meds reduced today. They will gradually wean her down as she moves around more. They did not do any expansions due to the amount of work it took to get the right side hybrid in. They had to shave some bone, and took 3 hours to do it. She has four small incisions. Her lying down xrays looked significantly better. She has her shoulders above her hips once more and her left side lung volume is noticeably better. We will know cosmetically how she " looks " as far as kyphosis etc. once she is standing and gravity does its work. They did make sure to anchor the right side very high, so our hope is that there is not any room for things to slip down. Thanks for all your prayers. and are doing well at the Mc house. They gave us a slightly larger room to accomodate the medical equipment, so the guys will enjoy the extra space now that all of it is moved to the hospital with us girls. I think they may even have a meal or two from the church here. I will post again probably on Friday. If she keeps progressing this well I'll have lots more to tell you. Love to you all. We'll be home soon. Shellie --------------------------------- Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments.

Guest guest
Shellie - We are so happy to hear how well Mo is doing! I hope each expansion just gets easier for her to recover from! That's worrying that she has developed an allergic reaction to Morphine - Are they using a different narcotic pain killer at the moment? We're continuing to keep Mo in our prayers for a speedy recovery, and safe trip home. Hugs Jacki and Siobhan xxxx > > HI everyone, > Just taking a break here. Guest guest
Way to Go Moriah! Glad to hear the new implant went well and she's handling it well! Those before and after xrays are amazing, aren't they? I hope her little body handles the implants well and there is no migration or any other problems. Only good recoveries from here out. Braydon is listed as being allergic to Morphine. We don't use that at all for post-op care. They have plenty of other drugs to keep the pain under control. Morphine has such a high rate of side effect problems (ie, itchiness, irritability, etc.). I make sure they give him something else. Not worth the trauma. I hope Mo continues to have a smooth and uneventful recovery. Looking forward to more updates and details! Guest guest
Hi Jacki, Yes they switched to Fentanyl. I don't like them to use the Morphene anyway. I'm glad now to have more than just my personal preference to make them not use it. I gave a list of how Moriah did her first two times. She found it helpful to get prepared for Olivia. Maybe she can forward it to you if you would like to look at it. Otherwise I can send it to you when we get home. Guest guest
I would love to. I can also send a copy of Texas' patient booklet. I don't know if they are distributing them through all the sites. I'll ask for one at the office here.
