Guest guest
So, Owen's brace no longer fits (he's been out of it since mid-Janurary to heal from surgery. I thought that our local Shriners, since we have been there already, would be able to make Owen a new brace to wear until he is able to be casted. Our orthotist said he could do it, but he would need an order from the doctor (the one who said not to bother and just go to the surgeon) So I called for the doctor and basically convinced the nurse to get a new order for us for a new brace- after 15 minutes of persuading. All good, or so I thought. She calls me back saying that his medical records are " off site " and may have been closed since we are getting treatment from SLC. umph. I thought I was getting somewhere, but no. By the time they get the records (from wherever they are), review them, do an office visit, write the order, make the brace,... we will likely be a couple of weeks away from the cast! nothing is ever easy. As for flying with the ear infection- we told them we could drive (that was our intial plan anyway) so that's definitely not why they cancelled us. I think they are just scared to do it. Which certainly doesn't comfort me that much! Thanks again for the support. It is very hard to get family and friends to understand what it is like to have a medically 'complicated' child. The stress and concern. It's nice to know that there are people out there who understand how much energy and emotion goes into caring for our kids. And how something as seemingly minor as postponing a treatment can really throw you for a loop. So thanks to you all for listening, as you are my electronic journal today. allison __________________________________________________
