Guest guest
Emma and Kate always used to go to bed with a bottle, quite often they would fall asleep with it. Kate still has a bottle at night and goes to sleep with it stuck in her mouth and has to have some silky labels on clothes to " silk " . Emma goes to sleep with a cotton blanket stuffed in her mouth and another blanket with a silky edge on - her " sucky and silky " . I never said it's time to give up your bottles and I don't think it's done them any harm. Helen however has never sucked a bottle and always seemed to settle down well - as long as she had her tape recorder playing. Her favourite is the Beatles Ballads, but she's also fond of Freddie Mercury and Queen. Our best ever toy was a Fisher Price tape recorder which you could hang on the side of the cot - only 2 large buttons for on and off. Guest guest
I can't reply to the putting twins asleep question... sorry. But I'm sure someone will. As for the Dolls with DS. I have two of the American Dolly Downs, made by Camp Venture. Not because they are beautiful, or even that they look like people with DS... just because they are a great education tool (they come with a tape and book on acceptance) and are made by adults with DS. These dolls are at: http://www.campventure.org Then there is a German Dolly Downs. They are not like the American Dolly Downs in a few ways. The first is that they are not made by people with DS. The second is that they are not rag dolls. They have a hard plastic head and hands, soft body. However, they are more $$$ and all of them have very strong (and in some cases, incorrect) sterotypical features of people with DS (ie the tounge sticking out, a huge gap between their toes, etc.). I do think they, out of all the dolls I've seen, look more like kids with DS (you can get one without his/her tongue sticking out). With shipping from Germany they are $80. They can be seen at: http://uni-bremen.de/~downsyn/down23e.html Then, there is DowniCreations dolls. I do not like these for a few reasons. #1 they are way overpriced (over $200!). #2 I don't think they look like kids with DS. #3 They have heart surgery scars (as if all babies with DS have heart surgery). Over-all... I'm not impressed with them. But the NDSC seems to prefer them... there web site (which doesn't always work) is at: http://www.downicreations.com That's the scoop on dolls with DS. Kate still has a bottle at night and goes to sleep with Eileen; Whew, I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who still has a " older " child using a bottle. Nicala still has her bottles and I'm not ready to take them away from her. uses sippy cups and uses Mommy. , mom to Nicala & , ds (2.75 yrs) and (11mths) BTW...To all those mom's who cut their own bangs....grow them out, then you won't have to cut them at all (avoid the salon for years!!)...that's what I did, altho I should visit a hair salon soon for all this grey (I'm trying to wait as long as I can before starting the coloring up). Guest guest
, There is also a company called " My Twinn " . They make dolls to look like your child from a snapshot. They also sell matching clothes for the doll and child. I have thought about getting Landon and Ashton one just to keep for when they are bigger. I'm not encouraging Landon to play with dolls. I just thought it would be neat to have one for both of them since they are twins. I am waiting for Ashton to grow more hair before I order them. If you would like some information on it, I'll dig around and find one of their brochures. mom to Landon(DS) and Ashton - 15 months --- Sara Greenberg <dsyndrome@...> wrote: > From: Sara Greenberg <dsyndrome@...> > > > I can't reply to the putting twins asleep > question... > sorry. Guest guest
I am officiallt starting my 1st challange on monday and have a few questions. Firstly I have lost 186lbs in the last 16 months and now have a body fat % of 19% which I understand to be pretty good for a woman but i want it lower. What sort of numbers should I be aiming for. Also I had a tummy tuck to remove my excess skin after weight loss 7 weeks ago and I am wondering if I should modify some of the upper and lower body execises a bit. Any feedback is welcome. Guest guest
No it isnt a typo. I had weight loss surgery and went from 340lbs to 154lbs. I am 5'7 " and wear a size 8 now and I am 33 yrs old. It isnt so much that I want to get a ton smaller I want to bulk up. I am one of the few women that wants to be " ripped " . My goals for some may seem unreasonable but I consider were I have come from and what I have always dreamed of and feel now I can do it. For myself I have no choice but to modify the diet on this program as I physically cant eat that much but I do suppliments etc already. I am very nervous about exercising in a gym as 16 months ago I would never have even walked by a gym let alone walk in one and work out. For the last 2 weeks I have been doing 6 miles a day of HIIT cardio on my stationary bike..takes me 21 mins so that I am not nervous about. Just nervous of yanking something from my tummy tuck. Guest guest
equal amounts of borax to salts? hhmmm I use Borax in a couple things for the bath. It is known for it's water softening agents. I wouldn't use half and half though. Sounds like way too much, plus that much is not needed. Doesn't take but a tad bit to do what we want it to. Half seems like a waste to me. But I'm no expert nor chemist. Pam
Guest guest
For your foot repair item, you may want to use lavender or tea tree oil. I do in my products and everyone seems to like them! > > From: <lindsay_goodwin@...> > Date: 2003/11/18 Tue AM 11:34:57 EST > Toiletries < > > Subject: 2 questions > >
Guest guest
Peppermint is wonderfully refreshing as well as deodorizing essential oil for the feet, but a little goes a long way! Buffer it with additions of: Eucalyptus: deodorizes, antibacterial Tea Tree: anti bacterial, antifungal Rosemary: refreshing, reviving (don't use if you are pregnant) Lavender: soothing, deodorizing > I'm making some foot repair kits for christmas presents. I know peppermint is a very common scent for various foot treatments, and I don't mind the smell of peppermint, but I was wondering if most people just use straight peppermint EO, or if they mix it with anything else. The straight peppermint is currently overwhelming me. (have all doors and windows open, fans blowing, etc. Thanks goodness I'm in AZ, and it's only cool, not cold!) It's not necessarily overwhelming because I've added too much, but just the single scent by itself is overwhelming to me. Any suggestions on some scents to combine with it to tone it down a little? Guest guest
I use my sugar-free, fatfree creamer a few days per week too. I count the carbs and reduce my meal's carbs in the morning. Not so hard, and it is FF,SF so I'm pretty sure it's authorized in small doses. Gotta make this livable! For these kinds of things (including my latte's) I tell myself that in week 8 if the results are starting to show, these little things have got to go. But until then, I'll enjoy them in moderation. Hope that helps! Don't know a thing about the oatmeal question. Have a great weekend! Jami > > Hello and good morning! > > First question: I love my Coffeemate creamer with my coffee. Guest guest
If you are having one cup a day with the coffeemate I'd not worry about it. If you are drinking it all day and have to buy a new container every other day you might want to reconsider. As for the oatmeal, I don't know anything about that recipie, but have you ever tried this...mix oats with yogurt and let it sit over night in the fridge. Add some fruit and you have what is called swiss oatmeal. You'd have to figure up how much of that is a serving, but it's really yummy and is not all gooey like cooked oatmeal. Guest guest
" Should I quit using it? " I think this depends on how fast you want to see results. that 15 calories will add up. Of course you can do extra cardio to burn it off, reduce your next meal by a little bit to make up for it. Or just live with letting the results take their time to show. And extra 15 calories/day may not make a huge difference but if you drink a pot of coffee/day or if your using more than the 1 Tbsp (I know I do) then it adds up quickly. I think a lot of people have to decide " how fast do I want this happen? " and " how much am I willing to give up for it to happen fast? Guest guest
I never add milk to my oatmeal, I think it's a matter of taste. I add Splenda, cinnamon and butter buds...YUM!! He probably put that in there to balance the meal out a little more. Drink the milk separately or just omit it. And, a lot of the pictures in EFL don't look like the actual thing, don't worry about it. I use the Silk Soy creamer in my coffee, I only use 2 Tablespoons and I only have one cup per day. I think it's an extra 30 calories. I wouldn't give up coffee or my creamer, but I did start measuring it out every morning, I wouldn't eyeball creamer, it's too easy to overdo it. I use Silk because it seems a little bit healthier than the Coffemate stuff. It just dawned on me, if you omit the milk in your oatmeal, then you don't have to worry about your creamer, there are your calories saved and spent. Good luck! Guest guest
I make my oatmeal with egg whites, so I get protein.... It's Egg/Oat Pudding - reminiscent of rice pudding 1/3 cup rolled old-fashioned oats 1/3 cup water 1 cup egg whites cinnamon & splenda Nuke in glass bowl for about 3 minutes, stir after each minute (so the egg white doesn't get clumpy) The time depends on how loose or solid you like it Very filling Very nourishing Also good cold or at room temperature. You can stir in ground flax seeds, or protein powder if you wish. At 02:24 PM 2/17/2006, you () wrote: >I never add milk to my oatmeal, I think it's a matter of taste. Guest guest
Alright, I've been debating how you add protein powder to oatmeal without creating goop. Does the milk help with this? Do you cook the oatmeal first, then add the protein powder and milk? Guest guest
Thanks n. I tried it this morning, much better than my previous selection. I came up 7 egg whites to make a cup, is that right? It seemed like a lot! > >I never add milk to my oatmeal, I think it's a matter of taste.
